Annie, the barn wedding?
Comments (17)I always spend a lot of time fretting over what to wear to certain events. After I get there, I wonder what I was worrying about. People seem to wear anything and everything. The groom's mother should have known better than to wear any shade of white. No one wears white to a wedding but the bride! I went to my niece's wedding many years ago and the grooms mother was dressed like a ho for the rehearsal dinner. She also arrived about an hour late so she could make an entrance. Her dress was spandex and cut about as low as you dare to go. Next to all the young women there, she looked ridiculous. She also had a huge scar on her chest from open heart surgery. IDK. Crazy. Ellendi, your Ann Taylor dress sounds perfect. Just because it is a barn wedding doesn't mean you have to dress like a square dancer. I like that bride's attitude -- be comfortable!...See MoreDispute with Pottery Barn-Am I wrong?
Comments (58)Pammyfay, that exact thing happened to me at Kohls a couple of weeks ago. I was in the store with my daughters and bought a pair of boots for one of them. They were $54 originally, on sale for $27. I bought them. While we were there, I saw a coat my older daughter liked but they didn't have her size. I decided to look for it online when we got home. First thing I noticed was that they were offering a 20% discount on all purchases (I'd had a 15% coupon I used in the store). They had the coat dd liked, so I bought that as well as a couple of other items. For some reason, I looked at the boots I had just bought not two hours earlier in the store. They were selling for $14.99 in the store plus 20% off. I purchased them again planning to return the ones I'd bought in the store which were double the price! I knew I'd be going back to the store anyway as I had another item to return so it wasn't a hassle and worth it to save $15 (actually almost $20 b/c the extra 20% off online vs the 15% off in store). It was pretty off-putting though to find the website was selling the exact same item at the same time for more than half what I'd paid in the store just hours earlier. Incidentally, I had something similar happen in the reverse at Lands End. I was exchanging some uniform shirts in the Lands End store at Sears that I'd ordered online. I'd gotten them on sale online but they didn't fit. I brought them to the store to return, explaining I wanted to exchange them for a different size, thinking they would re-order them for me. I didn't realize they carried the shirts in the store, so the salesclerk told me where they were. They only had one in stock and I needed two. When she rang me up, they came up even cheaper than what I'd paid online. She had to call lands End to order the second one, but they were advertising it online for the price I originally paid, not the in store price. However, the salesclerk told me that Lands End would price match the store price, which was 25% less. Funny how online vs brick and mortar can have such differing prices!...See MoreAnybody familiar with sizing Loft vs j.jill?
Comments (20)The ones at Walmart are Faded Glory. Yes, they are fitted. The tag says 100% cotton, and than 100% "something with an "A"( but maybe that's Spanish for cotton? :) This season's, i.e. bought in late summer/early Fall, were all scoop neck. Usually there are some V-necks but I didn't see any this year (2016). I prefer V-necks but got used to the scoop. Plus they sell really fast and don't get restocked as far as I know. That's why I buy at least two of each color. Most if not all I own are faded and shrunk up a bit by now. Just awhile ago I washed them and started to bag them up for Goodwill. However I have a strange relationship with old clothes. I'm always thinking I'll need them to work outside in or "around the house" as you say or they are still too good to give away. So I held back four. lol But I have learned to purge over the years. I bought one each of all five colors of the J.Jill tees....See MoreMud boots and rainforest clothing
Comments (56)I wear muck boots for field work and I definitely recommend high boots. If it's REALLY mucky, it will suck your boots off your feet! Some people use gore tex boots, but I like the rubber ones myself. I have to replace mine every couple of years, but they're cheap enough-and I use mine for rough terrain hiking in all kinds of weather. Mine are the ones linked from Tractor Supply. I'd bring some kind of walking stick-it will make all the difference. I just wear cotton blend socks with my boots and I put foot powder in them and stuff them with newspapers between wearing. Never wear them with shorts-you can get all kinds of scratches, bug bites, snakes, etc-so even if it's humid as all get out, wear jeans! A field vest is always a great option, you can carry all your supplies (especially bug spray, kleenex, etc). A fishing vest works just as well. I'm too tired to think of the company many field staff use to buy gear but when I think of it I'll let you know....See MoreAllison0704
