dining room update help, please
Comments (4)Hi Cheryl, You have a lovely kitchen and dining area! It's good to hear that you get plenty of use out of it, too. If I'm catching the pictures correctly, I think the two art pieces with blue would be one or the other on the wall and the grays with black stripe with be hung as a set. Let me know if I'm mis-interpreting. To me, the art piece on the left with blues would be interesting with your chandelier. You've got some other blues going on in the kitchen and the sitting area as well. It would be nice if it were bigger for the wall - maybe mounted on a bigger panel behind it? (Barn board or something like that?) Which art piece are you leaning towards? Hope some of that helps, Doug...See MoreMuch needed Living + dining room update on a budget
Comments (4)Very nice rooms. I don't have a wall color to suggest, but I would paint both rooms the same color (no feature wall). I'd consider a new coffee table, ceiling fixture, pillows, possibly new drapes in a color to compliment your rug and new wall color, a different chair cover once you decide on colors and a different DR table. To me, the FR looks crowded and somewhat cluttered. You have a lot of small items and too many items on your end tables, your table in front of the window (do you need this table?), your TV stand and your fireplace decor. You could also use larger art on your wall. The floor lamp in your DR, have you tried that between your sofas instead of the end table or by the upholstered chair by your desk rather than that end table? Comments (0)We just closed on our home and will be (hopefully) completing all updates before we move in. The kitchen is spacious with a large island, but needs a facelift. I'm thinking SS appliances, pendant lights over the island, painting the island SW Pewter Green, leaving the cabinets white. Quartz countertops and maybe a butcherblock top for the island? It needs a backsplash, but I'm torn on where to end it because that wall goes into the opening of the sunroom. I love the wood fireplace and built-ins in the dining room. I would like to make the fireplace wall a focal point somehow. Have thought about board and batten on the back wall, but not sure how that would line up with the built-ins. Do I whitewash the brick or leave as-is? I definitely want to lighten up the walls. Looking for any and all suggestions. Thanks!...See MoreNavy dining room update
Comments (11)The blue is a really nice color and looks especially good with your white cabinets. I'm wondering about what you might do on the white fireplace, though. It's a great concept but with the dark TV and fireplace, it seems a little too stark in white. Maybe think about facing it with tile or stacked stone someday? Or paint it a darker color. Not sure if the green would be right..maybe on the top and tile under the mantel? Maybe others will have suggestions. I also think a new light fixture would be a great addition to the DR. Can you survive without the fan in there or is it necessary in your climate?...See Moreeverdebz
