Need to paint kitchen table; color advice please
Comments (7)when you say a 'few shades creamier' do you mean darker? If you mean than then id say that would look nice and if you plan to keep the chairs then I would go darker than the chairs on the table. The subtle contrasts will look better so you don't have it look like you tried to match it all. Make sure whomever paints the table really really preps it well. Funny, I never heard the term banquette? Do you mean the island? Revere pewter is a very pretty color and does have a slight green to it. I almost did it in my halls but am going to do pale oak, which is a more putty color. Good luck with all...See MoreMayday: Advice Needed Please: Paint colors, kitchen backsplash.
Comments (2)A couple of thoughts I would not spend money on a hood to match cabinets in a small space IMO they only work in large kitchens . Just a simple stainless hood with maybe glass would be in keeping with your choices. I would not mix metals either in a small space. You will need something behind the stove unless your stove has something at the top to protect the walls. I think backsplash tile is a much nicer look than counter material for a backsplash and that would give you the ability to use the same tile behind the stove to keep it simple. Glass tile in a blue might be quite stunning with the counter and the floor. As for walls I would just use the same color as the cabinets in a matte finish and after all the other pieces of furniture are in place you can decide if you want some color on some walls. I kind of like the colors you are thinking about but I would wait ....See MoreAdvice needed: Would you paint these kitchen cabinets?
Comments (36)Melissa, thank you for the info on the baseboards. I also have a Keurig, Nepresso, and tea kettle. Simple is my life's motto! I tore out so much unnecessary stuff - wood paneling, wet bar, chair rails, styrofoam moulding (lol), popcorn ceilings, 3 different types of flooring, random interior windows and extra doors that served no purpose. Here are some before and after just to highlight many of the changes. Before: random interior windows in entrance foyer with blinds - which made no sense to me. I did keep the glass part of the windows- I would like to use them in the future for another project. After: windows gone. Before: view from inside wetbar with windows, former water heater closet, ugly light, and door to den. After: windows, door, light and closet gone. Before: wetbar. After: wetbar gone and this room will now be my office Before: bench wall dividing dining room and living room. After: bench wall, paneling, moulding, chair rail, carpet, and paneling gone! Don't mind that chandelier - it is next to go after I decide on a dining room table....See MoreAdvice on kitchen cabinet and wall paint colors? Sanding a must?
Comments (15)I would leave the cabinets alone. That dark-wood look you want is about 5 years gone already. I also don't know how you'll be able to tackle the amount of work involved with painting cabinets when you don't have the time to clear your clutter. Your clutter says to me you don't have any spare time. Also, I don't advise the "black stainless" appliance finish if that's what you meant by "dark stainless steel". It's just low-cost painted-on black and will scratch. I feel like each day this forum gets a dozen posts saying people are buying the black stainless - the manufacturers must be pushing it very hard for that much of an avalanche of buyers for that finish. Just get regular stainless appliances; it'll look better and you'll be better off in the long run. New lighting, de-cluttering, stainless appliances, and removing tchotchkes from on top of the cabinets will do a lot toward making your kitchen look more current and fresh....See MoreSarah
