I agree with taking off shutters. Now that I am taking a better look at the house (believe me it didn’t look that way when I lived there 35 years ) I see that the roof is in the brown family. So maybe gray is not the way to go. Hmm was just thinking it would have looked nice with gray and crisp white trim.

Instead of a straight gray, maybe a taupe/gray like SW

The trim color is Panda White. If you want darker, how about Fawn Brindle?

Ah! I like that one! Still use Panda white for trim? Ah now the front door and garage door! I was hoping to go blue when I was thinking of gray but I think that’s not happening with these colors. I love Naval SW6244 for front door but not sure of what to do with the garage. That might be too much?

He'll have to try a test sample to see if it works with the roof. Paint the garage the same as the siding. I think the Panda White would be a bit brighter outside and could work, although with the white windows, white trim could work as well. I think the Naval would still work with the Fawn Brindle.

Now that I took a better look at Panda White I don’t think I like it with Fawn Brindle. Perhaps a little whiter? Any other front door colors? Yes I like that suggestion about painting the garage the same as house. I will suggest that he buy samples first.

Perhaps just a cleaner off-white. I think he could go any number of directions with the front door. Black would be stunning. They show it here with a clean white and it looks good as well.

Hi Beth - Me too! But I realized that the roof is in brown tones so I sort of backed away from the true grays. Was hoping to give it a really new fresh look after so many years of neglect.

Katinparadise - I too love,love the idea of a black door! I’m not sure he would go for it. Thought maybe the naval would be a close second but I do agree with you. A lighter white trim , Fawn Beige and your choice of Black. I think the shutters should come off but I don’t know it he will agree. But if he doesn’t maybe the black as well?

The good thing about shutters is you have to take them off to paint. Maybe seeing it with them off will make him more comfortable with leaving them off. The Inkwell is really pretty. It's a dark blue/black.

I like this color too. Maybe the name is appropriate? ;)

you can use a gray if it's warm or a gray that leans on the brown or black side.

He is asking about the foundation. I told him at this stage of our lives (he’s 77) let’s just keep it simple. Matching white.
