Economic Stimulus Plan Question
Comments (9)All of our children are under the age of 10. Our tax liability was just over $3200 this past year but like I said our adoption tax credit wiped it away. The stimulus according to the letter we got in the mail today the amount of the stimulus payment is $1200 or your 2007 net income tax liability, whichever is less. And then it proceeds to say your Net Income Liabilty is your tax before any credits. We did get $300.00 per child but we only got $600.00 for us according to the letter we got today....See MoreStimulus check did not arrive today
Comments (141)It helps if you read the history of the financial collapses to help understand the commonality for many of them that lead up to the various depressions. While the 1929 collapse followed by the 1930's depression is mostly what people are aware of there were others that were just as bad throughout the world. My comment was about seeing a repeat of history. The ones just prior to 1900 through the one in 1905 caused major social and economic problems. Before people were making a decent wage for the time. After people were working for less than a dollar. Some areas that was a dollar a day not per hour....See MoreStimulus $
Comments (28)"Since when does the IRS inform you that you have gotten your Income Tax Return? Do they write you a note to say they deposited it in your account? I think not. Do they tell you they mailed you a check? No they do not. Do not try and pass this off as something useful or helpful. It is a campaign ploy by Mr Con Man." They do in Canada, which is why I mentioned that I got a letter 3 weeks after the fact....See More$2000 Stimulus Check Question
Comments (74)I'd be willing to bet that many people whose spouses died, such that they got 2X what they were entitled to, did not returned the extra money. My mother-in-law, always several sandwiches short of a full picnic, did something generically similar but without monetary gain. Her husband (many years older than she) became unable to move around well in his declining years and so had a physician's note to qualify for a blue "hang on your rearview mirror" disabled parking card. Apparently it expired periodically and they sent annual replacements. On one visit to see her, maybe a full 10 years after he died, there was a blue card on her kitchen table. I asked "What's this?" She replied "That's my special parking card". I said "How did you get that, you're strong and you walk fine". She said, "They've kept sending it after Robert died". I said "you're not entitled to have one". She said, "well maybe not but it's much more convenient to be able to park near store doors". We sent it back for her and in doing so notified the DMV of the death of her husband (my father in law). It hadn't occurred to her to do that. She was happy to shamelessly use parking spots she didn't need and wasn't entitled to use, and didn't realize that doing so could make it difficult for someone who did need such parking....See MoreJudy Good
