I love the sconces that you all posted! My chandelier is actually bronzy looking and the link to pottery barn had the finish that matched it. One thing I should probably say about my photos is they really don't accurately reflect that my chairs really do pop against the walls. For some reason they do blend in in the photo. I am afraid if I put up beadboard, my jelly cabinet would just look kind of dingy in front of it. I do love beadboard. In fact we have it in our mudroom, kitchen, and three bathrooms ttodd- I love the Sturbridge Yankee Workshop which is where I purchased George and Martha. I am glad you like the rug. Today I was looking at it and I was thinking how I do love the graphic nature of it. I have taken my rooster pillows down and I think I want some pillows with some reddish ticking . Going to paint the ceiling to tone it down. I'm also looking for a lamp or two for the jelly cabinet. Once I get a new table, will the get things for the top of that. I so appreciate everybody's help with this room.

I tried to quickly scan through. I don't know if someone made this suggestion yet. Can you put doors on your cabinets? We had open shelves on either side of our fireplace. I had my husband make doors for them. He made frames and covered the inside of the frame with cane. (we had to since they hold our tv components and I was afraid that they would melt down if no air got to them.) But, you can get tons of different sized cabinet doors at the restore or something similar. With the ones my husband made, I just painted them and put them up with regular old hinges. They look pretty good. I was going with a more natural/coastal theme. So, they work well in here. Oh! I was thinking. If you have odd sizes (like we do) you could just have lowes cut you new doors out of that mdf and paint them. Just don't get really super thick mdf. It paints like a dream with a roller and you could get the odd sized cabs covered. Melamine doors if you don't want to paint. But... you don't have to do all of your shelves. Maybe just the bottom half. It will break up some of the visual clutter. And, you can hide actual clutter (like we do!) which is really the main thing. :) Kim

is there any sort of light/pendant/chandelier hanging from the ceiling? are you open to one if not? any natural light to keep a plant? I like the idea of a smaller chair, or just a round table, like this one (above) and the pendant. the little table you have now could go on the right side of the door. I love this light for your foyer and a darker shade of blue like this one. that gray chair you have is nice, but does nothing for that spot. you could do a round table/plant as mentioned, or something along this order. That console to the left of the door may fit, but it looks a bit large for that spot. what if you moved it in place of the chair and decorated like the photo, above? or get a smaller chair with some color and pattern, like below. to the left of the door, you could do an oval mirror w/a small piece underneath. even a little stool/ceramic urn thing.

I highly recommend you clean the floors FIRST and then decide the wall colour. I have a sneaking suspicion that you will have a VERY different colour once it has been cleaned. Once they have been cleaned, I recommend you LIVE with the colour for a few weeks to get used to it. At that point, you can pick a wall colour. And remember the cleaned tile will throw a LOT of WARM colour into the space and onto the walls. The 'warm' white may turn a VERY strong colour with all that warm orange being thrown onto the walls from the floors. You will notice many inspiration photos have CRISP white on the walls.
