Just got first ever order from Chamblees
Comments (11)Thank you, Sandandsun, for that compliment. It is nice to know that people have enjoyed reading about my roses even if they weren't living in such a cold zone themselves. I must say that after all these years, just that smidgeon of decreased cold to garden in is exciting to me - although you'd never know any difference from the brutal winter just past! So I had to go out onto the patio to refresh my olfactory senses regarding Kordes' Savannah, where the roses on the wagon were snugged up to the glass door over night (it's only 32 degrees out there right now.) The only wide open bloom has a damask scent to it - not very strong, but the bloom is old and it's very chilly. There are two more buds that will open if we get some sun and warmth and I'll be sure to note the type of fragrance for you when it's fresh. I did snap off the open bloom and bring it indoors but I'm afraid it is competing with the overpoweringly heavy scent of Easter's potted hyacinths which is filling my house right now! Still, sinking my nose right into the bloom, I think of the damask, old rose scent. Yum....See MoreAnother 'have-you-ever-bought-from' question
Comments (14)I was just on Garden Value Outlet, and clicked on a few. Apparently their bulbs come from Ednie Bulb Company which is five miles from me, but they're wholesale and don't sell to the public unless it's the end of the season when they put them down by the road. That website wipes out your shopping cart if it's inactive for 20 mins. So I'm back at not having ordered yet. Amaryllis.com has Cybisters, but they're $15 each plus $9.95 for shipping for the three they have (Emerald, Ruby Meyer, and Lima. Sheepers is $4.95 (for NJ) shipping with a minimum of a $35 order, but they don't have Lima. Guess I'll order from them....See Morehave you ever ordered from drugstore.com?
Comments (7)I have used them before and was pleased. The last time however, I ordered something and they cancelled the order without notifying me. I guess the product was discontinued. I would've thought that they'd have at least emailed me to let me know that the product wasn't coming. When I emailed them to let them know of my disappointment, I got no response....See Morehave you ever drifted away from a friend who was really negative?
Comments (20)Oh heck yeah. I guess I look at friendship differently than a lot of people. Just because I've known someone a long time does not make them a friend. If someone craps on me, they're not my friend. Of course they get chances, but probably my closest friend and I have not spoken for some time. He got into a variation of a cult and I can't, rather won't deal with it. I've given him chance after chance and warning after warning but more of the drivel about politics and probably direct quotes from Fox "News". For a while, I'd prove him wrong and laugh in his face. I asked if he had the opportunity to choose the flavor of the Flavor Aid he's going to drink. I'd reply with videos of his diety du jour and prove him wrong but he'd continue to spout the rhetoric. I suspect much was an enticement to an argument. He loves a good debate. I like an intelligent discussion and don't mind if there's disagreement, that can make for a good debate. But there's limits. I finally had to go no holds barred and then he got all upset, asking why I was attacking him and insulting him. Well, I'm getting off track here, but people change. Interests change. And just because you don't see someone doesn't mean they're not a friend. Life is full of acquaintances, some closer than others and all subject to change. I think too many people are hung up on having "friends" and/or worry about losing them, rather than having quality, or at least non-toxic relationships with people. Life doesn't have to be a bowl of cherries, you can disagree with a friend and still be friends. But "friend" is more than a word to me....See Moreorganic_kitten
