A round table would be a good addition visually to this very rectangular kitchen, Your kitchen is long; I would not add any window treatments in an effort to allow as much daylight into the work area. If you need privacy however, keep this in mind when choosing window treatments.

I agree with round. Everything else in your kitchen is very squared off, and the round would be a nice counterpoint. Avoid a dark table. I think a light wood like maple, or for budget choice pine (but pine is softer and will show marks easily, some people think that is part of the charm, so that's personal taste). As to the window treatment, Just Say No to a valence. A pretty patterned fabric blind would look good.

I would also consider a rectangle table with a built in bench to go around all three sides of the eating area.

I would choose an oval pedestal table, because your dining area seems to be wide. A rectangular table will work too, but round is easier to walk around and you can often fit more chairs around a oval shape than rectangular. I think your windows could use some kind of solar roller or roman shade instead of valances since your kitchen seems to be more modern rather than traditional. If you can figure out a way to add mid-level shaded lighting on either side of the back window wall, that would fill the emptiness on either side of the window. Mid-level lighting would also give you nice shadow lines on the shiplap if that's what I'm seeing back there. I think I would paint the shiplap and other walls to match your cabinetry, but paint it in different sheens. One of the advantages of painting the walls white would be that the crown above the shiplap would blend in more with the shiplap. Add color with accessories.

Depends on how much space you have. A round table takes up the same on all sides -- more than a rectangular or oval in one direction and a bit less in the other. If you have a narrow rectangular area, which it looks like, then a round table may take up too much space.

I suspect a rectangular or oval is your best bet, with rectangular taking up the least.

Maybe a rectangular with rounded edges -- not quite a true oval, but at least not the sharp edges like in your latest picture.

Yes I can extend It. You think it looks ok with settling for the one I already have instead of buying a round one ? It’s also a dark

espresso finish which i was told was too dark for the space and clashes with the floor

If it's your only table space, then don't make it a cramped space.

If your current table works, then I wouldn't change it right now, unless you want a table-height table instead of a bar-height. I would, but that's me. I have noticed that just about all my friends who succumbed to the fad of bar-height tables for meals a few years ago have now replaced them with table-height!

• Table-height...30" off the floor (the most comfortable height for prolonged seating such as during meals)
• Counter-height...36" off the floor
• Bar-height...42" off the floor (and the most uncomfortable seating of the three for more than a few short minutes!)

Looking more closely, the table is definitely higher than table-height (looking at the chairs and how much space is under the seat), but is it bar-height or counter-height?
