You're not wrong. But neither is your husband. You just have different tastes! You're seeing a room with all white as bland. He's seeing a lot of contrast as jarring or not cohesive.

It looks like you were able to compromise on gray curtains for the space. Could you get a headboard and side tables in shades of gray? Just having some more pieces in the room will help the blandness. Working between colors you already have will hopefully ease your husband's mind. You could punch up the color with accessories and art that are easily added, removed, and repurposed. (As a side note, I think you could help the room a lot with bedside lamps and a lamp on the dresser so you don't need that ceiling fixture glaring down at you.)

Thanks Doug, I was thinking to get a nice lamp fixture for the ceiling, like a modern chandelier and 2 bedside lamps once I find the tables. the dresser used to be in the walk in closet but its so bulky inside that I took it out (we have 2 white 5 drawers dressers) but I didn't like the color(white) . Since our duvet cover its light blue-green I thought a dark grey pr blue headboard should be nice? with a matching bedskirt maybe? whay do you think? I still need to find a vanity table. I though mabe I could paint the dresser to match it.

You really don't like white! Matching your headboard to a bedskirt and painting the dresser to match the side table would reduce the number of colors introduced. Hopefully that will ease your husband's mind. I would lean toward grey for the headboard since your curtains are already such a statement in grey. If you can, take your throw pillow and a fabric swatch of your curtains when you're selecting a headboard so you see the colors together.

I also have a rug we want to keep in the bedroom, beautiful
colors and dark background... thats why we are hesitating on getting white vs dark furniture. would a dark headboard with white side tables in a white wall works? 🤔🤔🤔

As we're talking, it sounds like you're trying to find a design direction. That's getting a little beyond what I can help you with on a forum. Have you done image and magazine searches for bedrooms you like? I would try to find ones that incorporate some or all of the types of pieces and colors you have or would like. Also do searches for small bedrooms, so you see how others have put together similar size spaces. When you have an inspiration room that accomplishes what you want, it's much easier to start narrowing down decisions.

In general, I would prioritize your big investment and big visual pieces - headboard, curtains, bedding, dresser and side tables. The rug has much bolder coloring than the rest of the room, but it is relatively small and could be relocated. I wouldn't get too hung up on trying to make the room work around the rug unless that's a big part of the inspiration you want to work with.

I put together a 3D layout for your consideration. My husband and I have our bed oriented the same way that it is shown in this design. We have the bed far enough away from the windows and curtains so that we can easily open them and draw them back onto a curtain hook. We also like it because it gives us fresh air in the evening and makes ingress and egress into the bed and in and out of the room easier for both of us.

Yes this is an out of the box design but I thought that I would present it for your consideration.

In the design you will find:

1. Two 19" wide bedside tables
2. One king sized bed
3. One 3 to 4' bench with storage placed at the end of your bed for dressing and anything else you may want to store in it.
4. Two dressers with matching mirrors. Only because I do not know where the closet and bedroom doors are located in the room
5. One area rug that looks a bit like yours
6. Two table lamps on the bedside tables
7. One floor lamp to the left of the dresser
