I have pink brick. Help me pick a trim color

I don’t want to paint my beautiful pink brick 🤢, but I need to paint trim in hopes to calm the pink down. Any suggestions for trim color, door color and deck color. Was thinking of doing the same dark color for decking and front door. Also thought about painting the trim The color of the front door and then painting door darker? Thoughts? I don’t know. I’m kinda stuck on this pink brick

Your deck railing looks more pink than your brick, and it could be that the railing (and the deck?) brings out the pink in the brick. But, brick is never just one color. Use paint that brings out the other colors in your brick. Below I show a pale yellowish-gray, a brown and a pale blue green. I have recolored the railing, the door frame and the soffit in three different colors from Behr Paint to show how they look against the brick.

Color looks very different in shade than it does in sun. Furthermore, the color names I show may not look the same on your porch. You should start by using a manufacturer's color visualizer to narrow the field. However, you will ultimately need to paint a test swatch on the trim to see which color works the best. Look at the colors throughout the day as sun and shadows shift.

I'm with Les on ' don't bother with improving for appraisal' -- except where lack of maintenance shows. Thus peeling paint on the trim needs to be cleaned up so do the 'white thing' just to tidy for now. The area in front of the brick porch wall needs tidying - perhaps buy another small bush or three for that area and trim the bush to the right in the pic. Any other areas which aren't clean and tidy (not meaning mag picture perfect - just clean and tidy) need addressing for appraisal purposes. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there was a prior post on possible improvements for this home, with some photoshopping and suggestions of beefing up the columns and like that?? So OP is looking for trim color suggestion not general improvement suggestions? So basically answer to question would be paint trim white (good base for future color choices) and clean, tidy & scrub for appraisal purposes. IMHO

Below are some pink-y brick houses with brown in them. A light charcoal roof that skews to brown like chloebud shows in her photo would look nice with almond trim, which you already have. Nice house and yard. Consider choosing a dark bold brown for the fascia/soffit (and, perhaps, around your bold red door) but leave all the window trim white. A lighter brown for the siding you're adding would work well. https://www.pellabranch.com/blog/global-blogs/black-window-frames/ If the additional work to be done is changing out the windows, replace the large ?fixed? window with a pair that open and consider choosing black frames. You could then consider choosing a dark bold brown for window trim as well.

As noted earlier, the green just draws more attention. I would: 1) Remove the shutters from the double windows. 2) Paint all the trim and garage doors a nice medium taupe. Don't paint the garage doors a different color as it draws more attention to them. 3) Paint the shutters, maybe a darker tone of the trim. 4) Paint the front door. I LOVE your front door with your brick colour! I would paint the trim the same for an even more contemporary, sophisticated look. If you are able to tell me the colour of the door, I could try and find darker versions for you to consider.

That is what I was thinking too. But didn’t know if it would stand out too much.

I think the door & trim the same would look great. Perhaps just change rye sheen of the door for a slight contrast.

please do you have the number of that Behr colour?

Oh and yes. My decking is 100% pink. it does make the brick look worse. The brick has a lot of pink tones, with tans/Beige. The mortar is a cool gray though. That was what i tried color matching to get a paint idea.

I have one question for your pros. I Had almost settled on the trim being the front door color. Then I thought that’s would be too dark for a home all in the same color . I will attach a photo of the front of the house. Is the general rule that the trim should be lighter and doors and accent be darker?

Oh I just saw you asked for the number. I do not. I guess it was a custom color. Previous owners painted it

Traditionally that was often the way, but often a more contemporary take is to utilise the same colour and vary the sheen. It picks out architectural details tonally rather than through colour,,,

Was that a colour match to Sherwin Williams 7031 Mega Greige? I think it’s lovely. At 80° it‘s a near neutral in the Yellow Hue Family. You can plot it in the Colour Strategist wheel using its Hue Angle.

The SW version does have a decent, measurable quantity of red in the colour, which is probably why you read it as working so well with the pink tones within your brick.

Now we have that colour notation, I can find darker versions, which are closely related should you choose.

But if it were me I would probably go with same colour in different sheens. It’s lovely.

Yes, it very well would could be. The color reads gray with a green tint on the house. I will look up SW color and see if it look similar

And, I don’t want to make your head explode,,,but, there is a way to tie your front door colour and trim, even more closely to the brick. There is a tiny device ($55) which connects to an app on your phone. It actually measures the colour of the brick. it’s as quick as taking a photo.

With a surface as varied as yours I would measure about 5 different bricks. get the average Hue angle to plot ot on the colour wheel. That makes it very easy to find paint colours to harmonise with it from the same Hue Family.

Once you have that, you can find lighter/darker/warmer/cooler/more grey/ more colourful colours to work closely with ithe brick. They will relate as they belong to the same Hue Family.

Monitors and devices all render colour differently, making it so hard to tell. I bet the Behr store would be able to tell you straight away, should you need more of it. It may not be SW colour, but I cannot find Behr Marquee as a colour on their site.

That is really awesome, I have never heard of such a thing. I teach art (to kids) and this could be really cool to have!

When I put the photo in Sw photo app it recognized the paint to be 7031The mega greige even though it looks nothing like it when you paint it on the app. It looks much closer to 7060 attitude gray

I would love your suggestion to what you think is best. I’ll take all the free help I can get 😀

would you paint the deck the same darker color? Was hoping to do a darker color as we have so many trees the pink deck currently has to be cleaned yearly (But could use it more)

Yes - I think the same dark colour for the deck would be really chic!

Also for defo, you should get the device if you teach art. You will NEVER look at colour the same way again!

If you suss out what your colour is, by measuring or via help from Behr, then I can very readily find you whatever version of the colour you need.

I am on IG I am @ohpudge I’ll go find you now! Thanks for all your help. I’m going to paint some swathes with what I have and then go from there. all the paint stores are closed due to this stupid virus. So until then I’ll just use my paint closet for tester colors!
