Are the kitchen walls the same color as the living room?

Trying to find a place to put a large TV is a common problem. Your present TV location is blocking a door and it is a very heavy presence in the room. How about you get a more open, lower, lighter color TV stand and place it under the window? Can you get by without one of the living room chairs? If you move out the green chair to another room, the room will look better once the TV is relocated You can then put the two remaining chairs side by side instead of at their current angled positions. You can put a small table between them to hold a drink, a book, etc. Replace the dark ottoman with two smaller size ottomans that could do double duty as a coffee table or foot ottoman if needed in front of the chairs.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Yes the valances are definitely going! I am just waiting to paint the room so I can spackle the holes made by the curtain rods. This is the other side of the fireplace. As you can see by the mess in the corner, we store our granddaughters toys there. I will probably get an IKEA cube storage unit for that corner. The color in the section with the tv is BM 1047 and the color in the this room is BM 1046. The kitchen will be redone hopefully this year.

I think I need a new lighter color on the walls. The sofa in the room with the TV is Pottery Barn Pebble.

Well this is one time I would say to hang the tv on the brick! Remove the mantel and hang tv at an appropriate height...it would be best to paint the whole of the fireplace brick on both sides. Much cleaner and lighter for the rooms.

What is the cabinet beside the FP in the last picture

It was used for a TV, now it is just storage. We are thinking about making it a bar cabinet.

Do you NEED a bar cabinet, or are you trying to find a use for it? If you don’t need bar storage, could you get rid of it? Or store the toys in it?

I can’t really see the lamps, but the shades could use some updating...maybe some drum shaped shades instead? Target has a good selection of shade shapes and sizes.
