Room arrangement for awkward family room --Need your help!!
Comments (3)You really only have room for a sectional and one chair, or a sofa and two chairs like you currently have. The sectional and one chair will not add anymore seating though....See MoreI need help arranging my bedroom furniture!
Comments (1)When arranging furniture in a room, we can't really ignore measurements. ;-) If you have any graph paper, could you attempt a scale drawing of your room and furniture and play around on paper to see what works? Can you share actual pictures of the room so we can a better feel of the space? Looking at these renderings, I'd suggest placing the bed against the wall where the Vittsjo shelf is but is that too tight because of the angled wall? Otherwise, have you thought of placing the bed with the headboard against the window? You'd dress the window accordingly. First, figure out the optimal spot for the bed, then add the essential elements to the room....See MoreI need help with my awkward living room
Comments (6)Why are the couches far apart? Is there a room opening in between? Several issues that are important in room flow are people traffic and how to create an intimate conversation area. Right now, the seating is facing the tv, not each other for an intimate conversation. Much better might be to bring the couch near the large window and door set perpendicular to the fireplace so people can talk together. Another way to make this a better conversation area (as well as more flattering lighting) is to put the ceiling lights on a dimmer and have a table lamp or wall sconce in each corner and at chest height. Looks like there are a lot of items on the coffee table. One way to corral those items is to use a pretty tray or two....See MoreOpen concept apartment, need help on how to arrange furnitures
Comments (6)It looks like it's worth making it work just for those gorgeous views! It appears that you could place a table by the kitchen, turned in the opposite direction as is shown on the drawing, to give you extra living space. You could place your sofa on the main wall as shown, with the tv on the wall by the shelves. Or possibly float the sofa in the room with it's back to the entrance, keeping a walkway behind it, with your tv and console on the main wall. Or use the sofa in front of the slider with a walkway behind for access so it is facing the table area, with the tv on the main wall. It depends on the exact dimensions of your furniture, and the direction of your L shape. But I think you have good options. The finishes are light and neutral, so you can decorate with any colors you choose, or already have....See MoreLanie Bell
