blank slate open concept - need furniture
Comments (10)Here's a nice example of a monochromatic palette, fireplace and television on a nice console. In your space I think there is room for yet another chair and tables. Rather than a glass topped coffee table, a large upholstered round ottoman/coffee table would be a good choice with this set up and youngsters. Look at sofas with removable/washable slip covers for comfy use with family. Some color in pillows, art and lampshades would also be considered. Here's a look at a slip covered sofa from the Houzz shop: https://www.houzz.com/products/sunset-trading-horizon-slipcovered-sofa-linen-prvw-vr~32091784...See MoreCan’t figure out how to arrange furniture in open floor plan
Comments (1)The issue will be the size/bulk of your sectional. For a smaller footprint with the look/feel of a sectional, consider a reversible chaise sofa. It gives the option of a right or left chaise so you can change your arrangement at will. You can try it both ways - at the wall or at the tile, and you can change it up seasonally if you want. I think the TV wall is pretty well set in stone. Be sure you put yours at the right height for viewing....See MoreFirst open concept home- new build- I need help placing furniture!
Comments (13)I suggest take the island back to the original size and make the opening to the dining room smaller. If the opening is half as big, you'll have room for the TV to go on the new wall you create from the large opening. Then a 3-seat sofa and four swivel chairs can be squared up in a "U" out in the middle of the great room space. I would also eliminate the French doors onto the screened porch. You have so little wall space for anything but a table, and a rug won't work if that door swings into the room. Rug will need to be 36-42" larger than the top of your table and not run into walls, furniture on the walls or doors. Move the French doors to the bedroom at the north of the screened porch. You may need smaller scale than shown here, especially the coffee table....See MoreLayout and furniture help for open concept living room!
Comments (56)I doubt you can squeeze the bookcase and sofa on shelf wall. There is a sequence to use in redesigning a room. 1. Determine layout of main pieces. 2. Select rug(s). 3. Select wall and ceiling color(s). 4. Paint. 5. Ensure everything works well, make adjustments as needed. 6. Set out wall hangings to determine best layouts. 7. Hang art. 8. Add final accessories such as decorative pillows and throws, trays and plants. Sometimes this sequence isn’t possible but if not roughly followed a lot of redo is generally needed which takes more time and resources....See Morejck910
