There is no reason for anything in a new build to be on an angle and that includes the tV. Why are your counters all 3’ deep and the walkways too narrow I do find the kitchen abit oversized for the living space.Why does the island go past the end of the cabinets.

Where are the architectural drawings? This sketch is not accurate for a real living space.

I am trying not to freak out over the comments above. This is a southern living plan. The only change was making the island long and skinny instead off an even bigger square.

I suggest take the island back to the original size and make the opening to the dining room smaller. If the opening is half as big, you'll have room for the TV to go on the new wall you create from the large opening. Then a 3-seat sofa and four swivel chairs can be squared up in a "U" out in the middle of the great room space. I would also eliminate the French doors onto the screened porch. You have so little wall space for anything but a table, and a rug won't work if that door swings into the room. Rug will need to be 36-42" larger than the top of your table and not run into walls, furniture on the walls or doors. Move the French doors to the bedroom at the north of the screened porch.

You may need smaller scale than shown here, especially the coffee table.

The long open look.

TV on a straight wall (dining opening slightly smaller). Huge dining table just because I can ;) Kitchen with cooktop inbetween fridge and tall oven cabinet. Some extra workspace on the left for coffeemachine and such. Island with plenty of drawers and seating for at least two. Personally I'm not too keen on the American U-with-island-shape kitchen, maybe because I'm a European kitchen-planner ;) And last but not least: Compact working triangle!

The first 4 are what's regularly sold over here. But all of these are examples to what I meant with the layout.

Be sure that you install some electrical outlets in the floor so you can have lamps near the sofa and chairs. You should be able to figure out a spot that would work for multiple arrangements such as suggested by groveraxle.
