Our city parks have been closed for a while now. The trails are still open, but just for walking and cycling through......not to hang out and linger.

Our off-leash dog parks are closed as well.

Our big parks have been closed for a while. For some reason they kept the smaller, neighborhood ones open. Not sure I understand the logic. Recently someone broke the lock on the gate to one of the tennis courts. The town folk are getting restless.

PS I just checked my city's website. All parks are closed. They have not been enforcing that particularly well at the one in my neighborhood.

CA parks are closed. A police car was stationed outside one of our larger natural areas. No thanks to people gathering in groups.

People on Nextdoor are complaining about all the loose dogs and poo no one is picking up. I saw a group of 5 neighbors with 5 dogs walking closely together yesterday. It's too easy to forget to distance.

Playgrounds and sports courts have been closed here for weeks. But the city parks have been open for walkers, joggers, cyclists, etc. That is where this new closure comes into play - no one is now allowed as there have been too many reports of large, spontaneous gatherings forming (usually teens and young adults) or just too many people visiting them to be safe.

Our community HOA has been very proactive from day 1. Posting of signs along walkways and sending out updates and reminders to members. Everything we can do to help is important.

In the city and suburbs the local parks, trails and the state parks are open with adjustments. The playgrounds, contact sport, and dog parks are off limits. The bathrooms aren't open. But of course they never do open until May. They brought in port-a-johns to accommodate the people. As long as you keep a safe distance they are recommending to get out and cycle, hike, fish, boat, or take a walk.

For sure a lot of mixed messages. The truth is people can't be trusted. All parks should be open. Walking trails/bike paths benches by water...but the health benefits of utilizing these things are dashed when groups take to them, begin gathering to compare stories....It is difficult to walk and keep distance...we naturally gravitate towards one another...again now we know why China bolted people in.

Our street is becoming more of a park now...fewer cars, more people, dog walkers and bikes. Though around here everyone is great about keeping distance.

My husband and I have been walking the outer parts of the neighborhood to keep away from people. Our inner trails have always been used, but they are being used a lot more right now. I've been dodging a lot of families with kids on bikes.

I haven't heard anything about shorter leashes. My little doggy is a popular fellow. It makes him sad not to be able to interact with his friends. Since the neighbors have been keeping their kids home, no one has come over to visit him lately.

It's a community suggestion here. A dog on a long leash isn't the best way to approach fellow walkers.

They closed Cumberland Falls and Red River Gorge yesterday, I think. Too many stupid people congregating on the trails.

They had to chain the tennis courts, basketball courts and the school tracks after groups of teens continued to gather there. I really miss being able to run on the school track.

All the parks and playgrounds and sports courts here have been closed for a while. Not the golf courses though. I’m not sure why they don’t fall under the order. They are supposedly enforcing one cart/one person rule and foregoing other services, but still. I guess you just play by yourself? I am not a golfer so I don’t fully understand.

All the parks are closed including any local ones closed by their respective HOA.

I walk my 13 week old puppy most every day. He is on a 6 foot lead. He invariably attracts attention and people ask to pet him. The 6 foot lead allows me to keep social distance while allowing others to pet-play with him. I've only been here 3 months but in that time walkers have greatly increased. If I approach a walker I will cross the road or they will.

Most of the parks in central FL are closed, but not all. Many beaches are open to walking and swimming-surfing but no sunbathing or stationary groups. The rules are enforced by LE and lifeguards. The parking areas adjacent to parks and beaches are closed. The multiple mile lakefront and walk along Lake Monroe in Sanford is open and heavily used and many don't observe social distancing. I expect it to get closed shortly.

My town's playgrounds closed early on, then the sport courts, this week the beach closed. Green spaces are open for now. The forest preserve trails are open, but they are not being serviced, so if too many people leave too much trash, including dog pop even in bags, they will have to close them. I can't imagine how they will monitor that, many have several access points.

Our police tried to break up a group at the beach and the people pitched a hissy fit. Sheesh. So now it is closed. It is a favorite place for some to walk in peace, meditate, and do private devotions. And now it is closed.

Even the Washington Park Arboretum - 230 acres of just plants and trails - is closed for the weekend. There is just too much risk that too many will want to visit to enjoy the sun and be outdoors and admire spring firsthand. It is definitely a stay at home weekend!!

Since they closed all my local parks several weeks ago, the dog and I have just been traveling the neighborhood. But that's gotten boring :-) Wednesday I drove over to my sister's condo complex (about 10 minutes away) to pick up a mask she had made for me and to say hello :-) Her complex is surrounded by woods but with a nice, wandering mile long trail through them. We walked single file and the dog and I enjoyed a nice break in our routine.

gardengal, it sounds like you are being very careful. I was saddened to see a canine officer in your community has died this morning of the virus. And only 49 yrs old. Please stay vigilant....

Our city parks closed at noon yesterday and won't reopen until Monday a.m. They decided to do this because they wanted to prevent people from congregating for Easter weekend. Disappointing for us because the weather is lovely and we were looking forward to our daily walks through the weekend. But if it keeps the virus from spreading in this area, it's worth it.

Thanks, mor....trying my best :-) I tested out my new mask my sister made me at my early morning grocery run today. I hope it worked but it was hot, hard to breathe through and fogged up my glasses!! Glad I can ditch that at home, where I am perfectly happy to remain.

My landlady is 88 years old and has diabetes. She has family close by that check in on her periodically but I called her last night to see if she needed me to pick up anything for her at the grocery, as I don't want her out and about now. She said she didn't need anything but I got her a bunch of bright yellow tulips for just a Happy Easter mood brightener :-)

ETA: kadefol, that is the exact reasoning behind the closures here. From 11am this morning until 5am Monday

Here few of the playgrounds are fenced so things like basketball backboards and hoops have been removed an other playground equipment taped off. Of course there are some parents that simply remove the tape. I listened to something this morning where our mayor mentioned that the city may close some streets so that walkers can distance themselves. Many of the trials in our parks range from 3 to 5 feet across and without stepping off there is no way to have 6 feet distance from approaching walkers. People have in the past used parks for egg hunts for children rather than doing it at home. I remember some snowy Easters where the hunt was inside of the house so it can be done.

I have been walking the dog at our local cemetery because there are very few people there if any and I never see more than two together. I’m usually hundreds of feet from anyone. It’s peaceful and pretty and easy to distance. This morning it was locked up. I assume they were told to lock up. Too bad. Maybe they don’t want people gathering to put Easter flowers on graves.

Edited to add: just got word that we are shut down until May 15 That'll be 9 weeks for me.

Today we took a 3 mile walk along the railroad tracks. Wooded and isolated. So peaceful.

I live a couple of blocks from trails that go on forever. They are popular with mountain bikers and hikers from other parts of the greater area. The district has put up no parking signs now for several blocks away from the trail heads. It's to prevent all the congregating. Hopefully people will get the message. They are still open though. I run first thing in the morning before others arrive.

Here the goal was to close the popular destination parks but keep the smaller local ones open. The idea was to let the neighbourhood people have a place to go to but those outside of the neighbourhood wouldn't bother. They would stay in their own neighbourhood

Last week, Wisconsin temporarily dropped fees on state parks and trails. The thought was to give an opportunity for the house bound to get out and exercise. Two days ago, the weather cooperated and the trailheads were mobbed - a good idea gone bad: Too many people nearly shoulder to shoulder. Vandalism happened and trash bins overflowed with no maintenance personnel. Yesterday, most trails and parks in the south half of the state were closed.

Wisconsin is collecting more virus cases and the death toll continues. It has not plateaued.

The temperature fell to freezing last night, yet my next door neighbor found an activity for his children. It was an Easter egg hunt. He had gone out before dawn and planted candies. About 9am the kids and dog were scouring the lawn and finding. Not all goodies were on the ground; Some were in a wood pile, etc.

It is a shame that a few people ruin it for everyone!

And most of the people ruining it for everyone are those who during normal times were too busy on their devices to walk, ride, hike. :)

The trails at our local metroparks are still open, but I have stopped going to my favorite one because of all the groups of people walking together, who hog the path and won't step aside/go single file - so I am always forced to get off the path and wait for them to pass. This is not new behavior, mind you, just particularly obnoxious now.
