Here in Wisconsin, visits to state parks and forests have increased significantly since last March. It wasn't all good, as the DNR had to briefly close some facilities due to people leaving their trash around. Come on people! Still, my hope is there will be a renewed (and sustained) interest in getting back to nature. Every January several of our friends get together and have a "Living Room Adventure," where we show pictures and talk about the places we visited the past year. Due to Covid, it was done via Zoom last month. Normally these annual get togethers center around far away places some of us have visited. This year the theme was overwhelmingly centered on places closer to home...in some cases our back yard or local woods. I see this as a positive. :)

We don't have kids or pets to deal with so our situation is easier. We haven't made many adaptations: I change towels and facecloths every day, (used to be twice a week), and I have a supply of cheap faceclothes in the kitchen for drying hands, wiping counters, etc. We are obviously washing hands and cleaning surfaces more often than usual but I haven't set up a disinfection station as such. I do now unpack groceries on the laundry counter (adjacent to but not in the kitchen), rinse the shopping bags there, and hang them outside on the line to dry in the sun. We don't have a freezer, and may have to think about finding a small one and squeezing it into our garage at some point, but where I live, supermarkets are still open and still delivering. We already have a small study, and a bedroom with exercise equipment, so those kinds of needs are already met as well. The guest bedroom is ready and waiting should one of us get sick. There's not much else we can do but wait it out and keep clear of oeople.

I removed my comment after sushipup posted but it was about what people did or did not find useful this past year. It is always difficult to look ahead to see what is needed because often the small things that are of the most help are overlooked. It would be interesting to see what changes in looking back at this past year and a almost half what people found most useful.

I have done some long distance traveling alone with pets. You have to hope that the temperature is not excessive so that you can momentarily leave them in the car while you go into a restroom. I open the sunroof. I prefer to stop at McDonald's along the way for bathroom breaks for me. I park in the shade if possible, run in, use the toilet, then return to the car and go through the drive-through. The rest stops along major highways have you park farther from the building as compared to McDs. But most of them have a dog walking area. Although there are signs not to do so, I have been known to bring my dog into the bathroom stall with me when there was no way I could leave him in the car due to the heat. Ah, but you have a cat. With regard to COVID-19, try to remember that the current thinking is that contagion is mainly person-to-person, with close distance and time together the factors that increase your opportunity to contract it. Social distance yourself, wash your hands, keep your hands off your face, and you will be fine.
