New windows in the sun room! yes!
Comments (16)My joy about my windows was short lived. The hunky guys that installed the windows cracked one of the big ones. Granted it was or is a small crack BUT those babies cost a lot of money. I called the company but they didn't call back today, I'll try again tomorrow. My sis and BIL came and moved my wicker porch furniture to the sun room today. We also gathered up all the garden torches, shepherds crooks, etc. and put them in one place. My sweet sis is also storing my garden tools and equipment til I can get a garden house built. Katrina's bathroom gets tile tomorrow. Suzy your place sounds like a heart song. You know one of those places that makes your heart sing on any day. I wondered if anyone would notice the guys. People were slowing down and looking at it today when we were there. Gloria, I'll have to have the driveway done sometime soon. Not looking forward to that....See MoreSheers or opaque for sunroom?
Comments (12)UGH. it is not a nice room. :) that is the problem. There is a high ceiling. I didn't capture that. It is the only room in the house with a high ceiling. I have also not really purchased any of the fabric yet. the sheers auction ends today. The others are etsy. I have purchased some barkcloth, but really to be used for drapes in other rooms or a slip cover. Do you think it should be a lighter color background with brighter flowers? For the Opaque panels that is? And skip the sheers altogether? I do still want to go for mixed panels. Even in this lame boring room. I might be tempted to paint it, but there is no painted wood in this house anywhere, and DH might get annoyed. Plus, it really is a three season room and it is freezing in there in the winter, and Really really hot in the summer, I wonder how it would hold up....See MoreSun-room floor, can I paint?
Comments (11)Jane, I was not attempting to discourage you from painting your floor. I just wanted to share what I learned through my own experience, because you had mentioned that you once considered using tile. Also, whoever buys the house might choose a floating floor and the paint wonÂt make a difference. Although I decided not to use paint on my porch/sunroom, I plan to go ahead with painting the plywood floor in the finished basement. Like you, I am contemplating a beachy (or summery) look, especially since I am on the coast. I thought about a distressed white or a gray similar to weathered shingles or weathered wood (ThereÂs so much of it around here). The patterned floors look great and seem like fun. The possibilities are endless. You can use stencils or sponging. You can also paint a faux area rug. This year I donÂt have the time or patience to attempt a pattern, but I am trying to learn decorative painting and maybe soon I can acquire the skills to attempt a pattern. For now, the painted floor is something inexpensive to go under area rugs. IÂm no help with a color scheme, but your wicker serving cart is great and will probably look good no matter what colors you choose. With area rugs, lots of plants and that lovely wicker cart, the floors donÂt have to be noticeable unless the paint looks really good....See MoreSheer linen window treatments in a sunroom?
Comments (30)Your window treatment sounds wonderful. If my ceiling were level, I'd be using the long rods to put drapes in the corners and middle to pull closed over sheers. The linen I'm considering, I have two panels in the natural that I tried in my master bedroom. They are significantly more substantial than the crinkled voile up now. I think they'll do a better job of filtering light. The spacing between the windows isn't consistently the same, so inside mount, rather than outside, minimizes the imperfections. These photos show the problems. The first is the slider and narrow window on a slightly sloping ceiling. The long wall window frames aren't even the same height. This, at some point in time, had been an exterior open porch. I'm going to do something different to cover the slider--mounting a draw curtain or shade above the trim to even it up with the window. The ceilings slope on each end for roof drainage. The other end of the room, behind the daybed shows the windows are straight, but the trim above isn't. The old board ceiling is charming, so I didn't update it....See Morekatinparadise
