Open Floorplan: living room/dining room OR extra big living room?
Comments (12)I vote for hardwood or engineered wood through the whole space, including the kitchen. Opening the wall would be nice, but I suspect your appliances are arrayed along that wall? I'd paint the wall the same pale color as the living space, and hang a really big mirror on the wall if you can't open it. Then you open the wall visually, and reflect the light from the sliders back into the space. (I know...me and mirrors. They are great manipulators of space, particularly when you commit to making them big!)...See MoreOpen Floor Plan - Is this enough space?
Comments (8)One thing you can try is making scaled cut-outs of the furniture you plan to have in the combo dining/living room, and see how it fits. The size and configuration of your dining table and other furniture will make a difference. You can place the furniture in the plan, account for spacing for chairs, and walking around/flow through the rooms, and see whether you think it will work for your family. (If you have access to the program the designers are using, you or they can also probably "place" and move furniture directly in the program.)...See Moredining room in open floor plan
Comments (17)Don't worry about aligning the table and the island. You can make yourself crazy that way. I would skip the rug, but if you want one, I'd choose art for the wall first, then coordinate the rug. Then I'd choose curtains to coordinate with the rug, though you can almost never go wrong with natural linen curtains. I hope you're not planning on that enormous mirror on the wall. It will reflect your kitchen, probably not something you want to see twice....See MoreHelp! Dining room help open concept no idea what to do with floor plan
Comments (7)I feel like this is a family room type look. But you can use as dining room if that works better for you Many will ask for more pictures and a floor plan. So if you can post those. But I guess to answer your question, if you do end up using this as a dining room: There’s not much room for much so a rug, table, chairs, maybe a bench on one side, what’s your style? Maybe wallpaper on the walls....See More- 4 years ago
