I can’t figure out what to do with our master bedroom!!

I am the worst when it comes to interior design! Our bedroom is painted Sherwin Williams Krypton. I want to paint the dresser as well as the night stands but am struggling with what colors to do. I also am ready to get new bedding as it does not go with the paint color at all! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@Olychick it is a pregnancy pillow :) I am 6.5 months pregnant and hoping to get this bedroom figured out before baby arrives. Thank you for all the suggestions!

i would do the dresser and nightstands white like your trim, and then put all your thought into some spectacular bedding, and some wall art.

Or find bedding you love and pull a color from that for the dresser and nightstands. I just have to ask..what is that big lump in the bed, lol?

Check with your local newspaper office to see if they give away their leftover newspapers. We have picked up a lot of newspapers over the years (had one editor that refused to give them to my husband but he's gone now). Since you have lots of wind, don't shred the paper. Put the papers in a tub and add water then layer these with the manure. Wet newspaper does not blow around while you are adding it and manure will hold it down while it composts. You might consider putting a tarp over the pile to hold in moisture and prevent the contents from blowing away. I also put all junk mail, paper sacks, cardboard boxes, used paper towels, paper napkins, cereal boxes, etc. in my compost piles. I keep a paper grocery sack by my kitchen trash can so it is easy to sort then take sack and all to the compost pile when it is full. Don't forget to put the contents of your vacuum cleaner, hairbrush (my long hair generates lots for the pile). Just look around...you will find LOTS of things once you get started. How I envy your free manure! I have one rabbit so not much manure. Good luck! Peggy

outsideplaying, I really like the bench idea. I was contemplating something like that. Thanks so much for the advice on the planters with height. I never would have thought of that. What about the stairs - Should there be anything at the top of the stairs (on either side) and/or the bottom? Tibbrix - Thanks for the ideas! I too like the grass idea. Out landscaper is coming back up hopefully this fall to help us figure out the rest of the plants around our home and he had mentioned something like that, or a bush. Our original rock plan for in front of those steps was supposed to look like this. We had to hire a local landscaper to do the rockwork and he didnt follow the plan so we are stuck with that big mass of rock in front. I just put a bunch of plants in because they were going to die. I did put a bush that should get some decent height to the right of the steps (under the window) to kind of hide that hole there. I'm seriously contemplating just redoing it all and having my husband do the rock the way it was meant to be done. Ugh! I just need one of you guys to come here for a couple months and help me figure all of this out. I am so overwhelmed!

Don't try and match to existing flooring. Do something totally different and do the same flooring in each bedroom. What were you thinking of doing. Do you have any samples of what you like and would go with existing furniture?

Keep the bed on the wall in the first setup.. never in front of a window.. move the long Chest to the wall between the two door and put the tall one next to the closet (opposite of where the long chest is now.)

I'm guessing since you are painting the dresser you like dyi or you are on a budget. I think a tuff head board, paint furniture white and some pretty drapes. This is a link to dyi tuff headboard and scroll down and she has similar gray color scheme going with white bedside tables grey tuff headboard. You could go with other color that compliment your gray walls/carpet If you scroll the link she shows a picture of the room. Your bedsides and drawers could remain without paint, but link them together with the same style of handles. T o my eye the wood warms up the room from the cool wall colour. Go all out on the bedding - a new cover, big fluffy new doona. A pair of lamps to provide some mid line height in the the wall should help to make the space feel more dressed. As others have suggested - some artwork around to take the walls from being stark and empty. Oh, some full drapery will also provide some texture and softness

congrats on upcoming new arrival... I would first focus on bedding and table lamps as it will make a huge difference as your bed is a key focal point. I personally like white bedding with some accents pillows in colors and style that you love... it looks like based on your furniture and quilts that you like vintage things, so I think having alot of white for bedding with a colorful quilt for layering would look awesome.. do you have any thoughts on what colors or style you like? heres a link for some tips on how to style a bed
