James Hardie siding- Arctic White or Cobblestone?

We have a black roof, black windows, and dark walnut stained entry door and garage doors. I had envisioned having an off-white house. I didn't want stark white as I'm not a fan of the farmhouse look. We ordered James Hardie samples in Arctic White and Cobblestone. Depending on lighting they seem to change color so much. In some lighting the Cobblestone looks off-white, in other lighting more of a tan. Arctic White can look like an off-white/light gray and sometimes bright white. Does anyone have experience with JH Cobblestone with black windows? I understand that we could custom paint the siding, but we want to avoid this. Thoughts?

Depending on lighting they seem to change color so much. In some
lighting the Cobblestone looks off-white, in other lighting more of a
tan. Arctic White can look like an off-white/light gray and sometimes
bright white.

If these are the only 2 choices, I think I'd make the decision based on what time(s) of day you're likely to be looking at your house from outside. :-)

Without knowing the architectural style of your house, or where you're located, it can be challenging to make any recommendations... Would you consider a color, maybe, instead of a neutral?

What did you decide? I’m currently thinking of cobblestone hardie with black windows.

I see your dilemma! I don't think you'd have a problem using Sail Cloth since there's not a lot of white showing on your windows. Here is a visual that may help. Whelan Construction Are you leaving the garage doors, entrance and shutters the same color? My only concern with the Sail Cloth is whether it will blend with the brown tones you have. I would bring home a sample and put it up against your existing browns and make sure its yellow undertones don't clash with the rest. I say 'yellow undertones' because that's how it looks on my monitor........so check it out in person. You may want to post your question over on the Home Decor Forum. Lots of folks over there are good with advice on exterior house colors.

I wish someone would make a more subtle grained plank. We have Nichiha in a grained finish, and it looks like it was sand-blasted. On our dark color, it looks OK, but I wish it were more subtle. Smooth product also has a fake look, mostly because it is so much thinner than real clapboards.

I like the one that @Beverly likes. Not to be snarky, but contractors aren't always the best people to choose colors for you. But if the product rep says a color looks purple when installed, THAT I would pay attention to.

We ended up going with Arctic White and love it!

We have a red brick house with a dark gray/black roof that has flecks of brick red in it, and white trim. We used cobblestone Hardie siding with white trim and I think it coordinates very well.
