Help Choosing Coffee Table and End Table

I need some help in deciding on a coffee table and end table. I am thinking of getting a glass top table with metal legs. Something with clean lines. I am having trouble deciding on the finish for the legs. I really like a brushed gold type finish but just don’t know if it will go with the rug because of all the gray in the rug. What do you all think?

As to the end table, I was thinking of a small rectangular one which would go where the current one is now. (The lamp that’s there now does not stay - I just needed a temporary source of light.) Should I stay with the metal and glass, or could I do something with a dark wood which would coordinate with the dark wood in the tv console?

Here is a glass top with a wood base. Why do you require end tables? If you just need a place to set down a drink consider complementary drum tables instead. There is so little room for end tables.

What you've done thus far looks lovely, the dining room is yummy. Most of the living room is done well but I have a little issue with the balance of the room. In the photo ,looking straight on to the sofa, I see that it's not centered on the wall and the chevron pattern chair seems crowded. Is it possible to center the couch and move your heirloom between the two windows to another spot. Take the chevron chair and put it at an angle up near the window more to the right of the window. Then take your heirloom piece and place it to the left of the sofa. Just a suggestion.

Please understand that you need to show an ENTIRE room and some of your furnishings to get solid advice. The picture you provided is inadequate. Good design comes about when every piece relates to everything in a room--walls, floors, lighting, rugs, style. etc. Doing things piecemeal just winds up with a new Design Dilemma.

It's crazy how one thing leads to another and then another and before you know it, this project gets totally out of hand and so confusing LOL!! Your place is beautiful! Love your couch and chairs. I agree with so many of the posts, except for Cpaul!! No need to be rude! A larger picture rather than a gallery above the couch would have more punch, IMO and maybe do the picture gallery over the sideboard. Coffee table you picked will also look great. I would also recommend trying to square off the chairs instead of having them at an angle as someone suggested. Curious to see how that would look, I would love to see some cushions on the couch to compliment the colour of the chairs. Also, I love your cabinet/sideboard but I would glam it up with crystal knobs and also add some glitz items on the top, such as a white vase, glass candle holders or some white/grey small pots with succulents, maybe in a tray. I also like the idea suggested of heavier/fuller curtains. If you're a sewer, you could line them to give them more weight. Of course, nothing is carved in stone. At the end of the day, it's your place and so long as you love it that's all that matters. Also, enjoy the process!! Looking forward to more pics.

@jck910 Thank you! I like the round one! Yah the end tables are definitely too short and a pain when I'm drinking my coffee in the mornings. I'll look for taller ones! I think the love seat would be too short on the wall and the couch too long out into the space.

I like both of the coffee tables. Solves the finish problem for the metal legs.

I really do need one end table for a lamp. That's why I was thinking about a rectangular one. I could put the lamp at the back and still have room for my book and a glass or coffee cup, my glasses, etc.

What do you think of something like this?

I like the metal/glass or even metal/wood like in the picture of the last comment. I would do brushed gold, it just doesn’t go with the rest of the room. The metal ties in the lighting behind the couch as well.
