Anyone want to help my rearrange my living room?
Comments (29)Hello Segbrown of the Awesome Kitchen. Your kitchen contains the spirit of one of my unrealized kitchens! I have one of your same backsplash tiles, a sample, which I meant to use but the years crept by and that kitchen didn't happen. Back to your seating area. I was admiring your ottoman/table only to see it disappear in your final arrangement. As I am thinking about replacing my coffee table with such a foot-ready rest, I have to ask why you got rid of yours? Surely the feet in your house want a rest when tv watching? I am in the market for swivel/s. What brand/model are yours? Are you happy with them? Much obliged if you come back to comment. I've enjoyed every bit of your house that you've shared....See MoreHow do I delete my photos ?
Comments (7)Since posts are composed WYSIWYG the preview feature is real time. To delete a picture from a post as you are composing it use delete or backspace on the keyboard as you would do with text. Something that bugs me about this forum and it is the same as it was with GW is that when "YOU" post to a thread it shows as newly posted to (highlighted). Your own post should drive a thread to the top but it should only be highlighted if someone other you has posted to it alerting you to new posts. I dont need to be alerted to the fact that I have posted and the only way to removed the highlighting is to visit the thread just after posting which is kind of silly if you had just posted there....See MoreWhat do I do about my Fiddle Leaf Fig? FLFs love lots of light, eastern light is not very strong and this plant would do best right up in front of an unobstructed south facing window. If it can only reside in this room, it needs to be right in front of the window without the blinds blocking the light. You could even place in on a plant stand or table so that the leaves can catch as many rays as possible. I'm not sure the mirror has any benefit since the reflected light is diffused, but it's certainly not hurting anything. I would however stop misting because it does not improve humidity and sometimes invites pests. If you're interested in increasing humidity you should look into using a pebble tray, but the humidity in the South-East during winter isn't too bad, so it's up to you. The leaves may be drooping due to the soil being too dry currently or the soil retaining too much water. I don't think that plastic bag under the pot is a good idea as it can trap moisture inside the pot. Watering with three cups of water likely didn't water the plant thoroughly. Good watering practice is to insert a wooden dowel or bamboo chopstick all the way to the bottom of the soil - some people think checking the soil with your finger is effective, but it only evaluates the top inch, the bottom soil could still be soggy (over-watering is a common issue). If the dowel comes out wet with soil clinging to it, the soil is still wet and it is not time to water. Check every few days until the dowel comes out clean and dry. Then water thoroughly so that water flows freely out of the drainage holes in the bottom and then let it rest for about 20 min so the excess water can drain out, this is easiest in the shower or kitchen sink. Don't water again until your dowel is reading dry again....See Morehow should I rearrange this family room? very small!!!
Comments (19)Right now there is no room for a coffee table or to have a conversation. The solution with a narrow room like this is to align the deeper furniture with the deeper part of the room. Put the TV on the wall over a shallow console, on the wall opposite the fireplace. Then put the couch in front of the fireplace, facing the TV. You'll still have a "hallway" in the same place, but now you have room for an arm chair in front of the windows, maybe an end table in the corner between arm chair and couch, maybe even a second (slipper?) chair on the near end, but who can say since we can't see the other direction. I suspect you could fit a coffee table in front of the couch as well. Fireplaces can be nice design elements, but here it is enslaving you to bad options. If you ignore it, you can arrange the furniture to actually enlarge the space and welcome friends to join you there....See More- Emily H7 years ago
