I can't believe where we were with this just one year ago. In case anyone is interested in a followup, the Coretec floor is holding up just fine. I have a large and rambunctious dog who often slides all the way across the floor and I don't see any scratches. The cabinets are Sophie's old favorite(ha ha ha) Fabuwood. They have been absolutely great. They're deep, the crown molding looks great, nothing binds or sticks and the finish is very washable. So there you have it. Yes, you can have an entire kitchen, including taking down a wall and a peninsula, moving a door and a refrigerator, done for $20,000. In a week! Is it a Houzz worthy $100,00 kitchen? No. That would be ridiculous in my modest over 55 neighborhood. But if you have a modest budget, don't be discouraged into believing you can't remodel your kitchen for less than $50,000. You can. Here's the proof.

hey lauribet - thank you! Yes, I think they go equally well with warm and cool tones. I'd describe Semonia as a a warmer grey. We have a lot of wood trim throughout our house (woohoo 70s decor haha). I wanted something modern but wouldn't look weird with all the wood, and think Semonia works really well. We love these floors -- have had them for 1.5 years now and they look good as new, even with our toddler smashing pots and pans on them. Good luck with your remodel! how fun!

I was also thinking about the possibility that the countertops would be too trendy, I will have a look at the solid colours and how they look with the backsplash. @mama goose_gw zn6OH Good point about the layout. I'm not sure if there is room to the right of the sink but I'm going to go have a look. Right now the dishwasher is behind the hidden panel under the little tray of orange juice. I was thinking it should go to the right of the range if possible for symmetry but that would move it even further away from the sink so maybe that's not a good idea...
