Hi Houzz! I asked for advice last summer about how to best update our dated and dark kitchen on a 18k budget. Here's the original post: https://www.houzz.com/discussions/5765306/kitchen-remodel-with-a-18k-total-budget-how-would-you-spend-the

Thank you everyone who gave me advice! I'm happy to report we finished the project and are thrilled with how it turned out. All in, our total cost was just under 12k. It feels like completely new kitchen and one we're proud to host our friends in.

Here's what we did:

  • Painted original cabinets - color match of Farrow & Ball Wimborbe White, island Farrow & Ball Downpipe.
  • Installed decorative hardware
  • Got rid of wallpaper and painted kitchen an off-white grey.
  • New LVT floors - Coretec Semonia. We went with vinyl tile floating floor for durability and to save on cost.
  • New light fixtures, swapping out the pot rack over the island for a semi flush mount.
  • Installed new sink and dishwasher.
  • moved the microwave to the wine rack area
  • Got rid of vertical blinds in kitchen nook and installed sliding panels

Thanks ago Houzzers for your help with this project!
