Paint the sidelight red or white?

We are updating our front porch and will be painting our front door Front Door Red (Behr I think?). My husband and I cant decide on whether to paint the sidelight white to match the trim? Or should we paint it red? if we do a red sidelight, there would be a white line of trim separating the two reds. Having just one sidelight bothers me, but nothing we can do about that! I know this is a personal preference issue, but I’d like to know your thoughts! thanks!

I would paint it red since that whole block is centered to the space.

Painting the sidelights white will make the door stand out more, IMO. Agree with black or the current color and no shutters, wider steps, a larger lantern light (1/4 - 1/3 the door's height,) new landscaping, and a new walkway to the street. I think new landscaping will be highest impact for this house though.

Yes to removing the shutters. A house in my neighborhood had red brick similar to yours with white trim, I was amazed how good it looked when the white was painted a light tan (or beige). If you don't want to paint the columns and gutters, how about a color that echos the roof?

I like all black for a look of importance especially when the sidelights have the same detail in the glass as the door. If you want your home to appear high end though, consider removing the welcome sign.

Side light, door, door casing........red. And be careful with the red you select. : )The posts are TOO skimpy, consider beefing those up for a better look. Double the volume.

Thanks everyone! Husband is now painting both red, casing, in between and all but the outside trim. I’ll take an after shot when it’s done!
