i like that conversation style arrangement, but our family likes to snuggle together for family movie nights etc,... thank you for chiming in!

Need wall measurements to determine proper sizing of furniture. Post sketch with clearly marked dimensions. All around space and width and length and ceiling height.

I've also shaded in the proposed Huppe Edward sectional, at 145" x 121". The ceiling height is 15' at the peak.

Are you in this house? If so, i need one more measurement. Measure from long wall to TV wall. Then I can assess scale.

I just worry that a hard corner on a sectional will look weird against that angled piece of wall. (notice, in the picture of the Edward sectional, the corner chair has an angle on its cushion which is probably why I like it. But that corner part of sectional is only floating 1' from angled wall). Would it be bad feng sui to have the back of the sectional facing you as you enter the house? Thank you so much for your mock-ups!

That sectional does not fit well in your room. It is just too big. We like at least 3’ walking room around rooms and this would cramp the walk way on end to say nothing of squeezing into corner. You could find U shape sectional for this room that might work better. I will check some sources and see what I can find for you. Bbl

You are welcome. Here is possible option for U shape sectional. You can pick fabric and all elements to suit you needs.

Like the art over/behind the larger sofa.

Like the small narrow "end table".

Like the large mirror on the angled wall. You could put a wide cabinet with shallow shelves and glass doors beneath the mirror and use it as a curio cabinet.

Plenty of natural light. You might try adding a wide storage ottoman as window seating beneath the large center window. Leave that far end of the room out of the equation when "centering" your primary seating area.

Create your main seating area by centering it with the STRAIGHT wall (left of the mirror) -- centered across from the tv.

Furniture looks to be still in good shape. You really like it, too: " (much to my chagrin!)"?

Before parting with sofas you really like that are still in really good shape, consider adding new feet/legs or even castors to them to raise the height. Even if you are not DIY inclined, having a woodworker make them probably would be cheaper than buying new sofas you don't like as well.

Not a fan of sectionals; after all, who really likes sitting for extended periods of time without armrests? Sectionals severely limit your furniture placement options.

Your round "tables" would make good end tables for each side of your sofa, with a tall thin lamp with medium white shade atop each..

Depending on sectional you select, you could add one or two swivel chairs to the grouping since the room is so wide. But choose main furniture first then additional chairs. It is a great room to work with.

Gee I think you want to sit on the sectional and take in the view through the large windows. It also allows people in the living room to see into the kitchen area. That said, I am not a fan of sectionals or loveseats. It's always easier to work with a combination of sofas and lounge chairs and change the room as needed.

There are sectionals that have an angled corner if that is of interest.

ANd I will definitely map out a U-Shape sectional. I was thinking I might need something custom, so who knows... I might take a few of these Ideas and combine, but like you say - start with the main piece, and move beyond to accent chairs etc. Thank you again!

@suezbell - thank you so much for all of your ideas! Some really good ones to explore. The problem with the existing sofas is that they're not very deep and they're low. I just can't imagine a furniture guy/woodworker able to do any kind of magic here. They are a very "good" set {ie $$} so I think that's why I'm having a hard time parting with them. I bought them sight unseen 10 years ago. :( lesson learned. Thank you for all your nice words about the space and furnishings, and for your very constructive help! Much appreciated!

Taping out/mapping out etc. etc. Part of me really likes a more traditional sofa/loveseat chairs combo - but I wonder what that will be like for family movie night, you know? Anyway, thank you for your input about directionality of sectional. It's one I hadn't thought of!
