Two Sofas or Sectional?
Comments (4)just my $.02, I have always liked sectionals in an informal room, I don't like clutter on a corner table between 2 sofas and a small lamp. I use a big coffee table for stuff. feet propped up, drink coasters, few mags, a plant, etc. You can get gorgeous floor lamps classic, modern that can go next to or behind the piece. i have a few pillows in the corner and a throw. and no, nobody who visits sits in the corner. I sit in it when I nap or lay out to watch tv. and btw, LOVE your fireplace, and you have a huge and high space to make it work. Sectionals seem to take up more room, but I swear, they make the room BIGGER in my opinion. :)...See MoreGo sectional or sofas in two story family room?
Comments (9)Your space is plenty big -- and it could easily accommodate two sofas and two chairs [Modern Living Room design[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/modern-living-room-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_718~s_2105) by Miami Interior Designer Jorge Castillo Design Inc. By placing the chairs directly opposite the fireplace, it gives the room a "lighter" feel upon viewing from the hallway, both upstairs and down. Unlike the photo, I would place a small table in between the two chairs to space them apart. For the sectional option, this would be a good set up: (long part of sectional placed in front of your windows -- two chairs opposite, in front of archways; you can consider swivel chairs for this placement) [Contemporary Living Room design[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/contemporary-living-room-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_718~s_2103) by Seattle Architect knowles ps ***Whatever way you go - please consider moving your furniture out from the wall. You would be surprised by the sense of space when you do this. It also creates a great conversation area....See MoreLiving Room Decorating Help, Sofa / Sectional advice needed! Pic
Comments (22)I am more than happy to share where this stuff came from and am extremely flattered. The rug is the "Brice" rug from Pottery Barn, 9 X 12. The sectional is made by Jonathan Louis. It is called "Knobhill" and the fabric is called Basil Flannel. I got it at a local furniture store but I saw somewhere that Jonathan Louis furniture might be available at Macy's. The website has a dealer locator: http://jonathanlouis.net/. One armchair is coming this evening. I am going to arrange it all again and post another photo. This is immensely helpful and I am just sorry that I can't try every suggestion! Have a spare small desk in the garage, and will try whatever else I can get my patient DH to do. To make things more complicated, I found out that I can order another piece for the sectional. Since I bought the floor model I didn't think of it before. It will seamlessly extend the longer side another 28". That side will def. have to go against the wall (as in the first photos), but the room will be filled out a little more. Yet another option! I think I have decided against exchanging for a sofa/loveseat. One more question: when moving the sofa away from the wall, how far should it be? Just enough to balance things, or enough for an acutal person to pass through?...See MoreDecor Ideas for 2nd Room with Sectional Sofa
Comments (2)Agree with Patricia. A gallery will overwhelm this space. Save your special picture to place where you will see it more and appreciate it, and find something fun for that wall, that is large scale. Not sure what your taste is, it's hard to tell with this photo. We can give suggestions if you give us a sense of your style preferences...modern, farmhouse, traditional, etc. I'd be more likely to center the couch to the wall, add some pretty drapes, and place the TV on a bureau with drawers, so guests can have a spot to put personal belongings away. Then you can add some very small end tables so they'll have a spot to rest a drink, or charge their phone, bedside. This is my guest room, with pullout queen bed. also VERY small, and doubles as a home office, so I've creatively used a file cabinet as one end table, and a small stool is re-purposed as an end table on the other side. I have a small, wall mounted television in the upper right corner of the room, just out of frame. If you give us a sense of your style, we can recommend specific pieces, etc. Right now you have a bright and pretty blank slate and neutral couch to work with!...See Moreolena
