Do you want the garage door to stand out or blend in? I vote to paint the body of the house one color including the green bumpout. And then paint the garage door to blend in. That way the focal point in the front porch and front door where it should be.

Yes, @littlebug zone 5 Missouri cedar garage doors are beautiful but...OP already bought a door that is not cedar. You can't paint a door to look like stained cedar. FWIW, if you're considering a cedar door for your home, ask around about maintenance. I wanted a cedar garage door (recommended by my architect) and nobody in the garage door biz would recommend it (not the three different garage door salesmen; not my GC's house painter; not the guy at the paint/stain store, etc) Way too much maintenance. Sigh...

If it faces south or west, do not paint it a dark color. The heat buildup from direct sun will destroy it (same goes for any door).

I think there are just too many colors going on. The green bumped out area just doesn’t work.

partim and Molly D. This is the same house. This is the listing photo from when we bought it 5 years ago. We have had very dark cloudy weather lately so the other picture didn't really show the colors correctly. I just found this and decided to post this as a more accurate color representation. The house also needs to be washed, which would restore it to this color scheme more accurately. SO, I'm still torn on painting it a new color or keeping with this color scheme. The funny thing is everyone on the other thread liked that color scheme and on this thread they don't.

girl_wonder Yes. Our original plan was a wood garage door, but we were strongly steered away from it, especially in our wet climate. This is actually the old door, the new one has windows, but it came primed white, so it does need to be painted. Still trying to decide if painting the whole house makes sense or just the garage.

FWIW my garage door company says the door needs to get painted with 5 (?) days or the warranty is voided. Not sure about yours but FYI. (I.e. if you waffle a lot —like I do—this might be one time to make a decision more quickly. Best of luck!
