It's a fun place, but you're ready for change. I think the wide dining room stripes are in conflict with the more narrow shiplap, so that's a place to start. If I were going to do more shiplap, I'd do it in the dining room, not the yellow room. You could take it all the way up to the division between the lower and upper parts of your windows, Top it with a plate rail, and then add a nice pop of color at the top, like the cherry red from the chairs. Start a collection of plates to put on the rail. If one of those two DR walls is wide enough for the china cabinet to stand against it, I would reverse the two pieces there so nothing has to be cornered. Unless you're really tired of it, I think the yellow could stay for a while. Think about slipcovering the sofa and chairs in the cream color from the buffalo check chair, and get a new rug and pillows to change the vibe.

Without knowing anything else about your furniture and recognizing I can like drama, here goes....perhaps the entire kitchen wall in a deep gray that's close to your tile color and I think I would like soft dark counters along the lines of the tile headed towards black. Your floor picks up black. I also painted out my kitchen window trim and patio door trim in black as I backed up to woods. The white trim was glaring at night and the black softened everything. It wasn't a harsh black. And back splash was not an issue. For some reason, in 9 homes, I've never had one under cabinets or even stove until this current house! Maybe because they were mostly all old and back splashes everywhere seem to be a thing. I'm a pretty tidy cook and my walls were always BM eggshell which washed beautifully. when needed. I think I'd get white stools but w fabric seats/ pick a colorful durable fabric. order them so you get the shade of white you like. [you'll probably find stark white/creams/almond/etc] There are no valances at the windows so fabric seats would be a nice mix w what is there so far. I would not do anything to the pine under the counter right now. But what comes to mind is gelstain....choice of shade that way and the grain will still show. Get the stools / get the table set up w runner and place mats/centerpiece.. ..etc is there a light fixture for table? I would not paint the window framing. You have a backsplash..it looks integrated ..or maybe it can be pulled??? cant tell but I would not do a black tile there.

You don’t need to paint the house a similar shade as the garage doors. The doors are very close in tone to the windows, so they already correlate. If you live far to the north, a dark exterior will help assist your heating system on sunny winter days, but if you depend on air conditioning in the summer, dark walls paired with the near black roof will have an effect on the efficiency of the cooling system. Consider how much contrast you need between the dark roof, windows and garage doors vs. walls vs. trim. As for the bathroom window, you could put a medium tint film on the inside and then put a frosted film behind it and enjoy light and privacy at the same time. the tint will obscur the frost making the window just dark from the outside. during the day and working with the frost at night.
