Filing My Wall Struggle...

I am really struggling on what to do with this wall. We recently moved into larger home with higher ceilings. My hubby wanted a bigger tv in the family room (86 inches)! Our little fireplace looks way too small so I know I need to find something to go underneath the tv but what about the sides!?! Any thoughts out there?

Add two bookshelves on either side and use them to add decor (not just books!). Get rid of the fireplace, it is way too small for that space. Add a short longer console underneath the tv. I don't know what is on the other wall, but I would move the long couch to the other side and add artwork above that. Add drapery to the window.

I would put your tv on a console across from the windows. Plants, curtains, art over fireplace and fill the corner with a chair and table. Some ideas

I think the McCobb furniture is great, and I'm not a fan of that period, in general. Rather than the impersonal sort of art.com stuff, I'd look for a wall sculpture from around that some period but more elegant that flying mallards, etc. Artisan House and the C. Jere wall art are the best known, but some of the stuff veers into kitsch, in my mind. I actually rather like the "outdoor scenes" ones, though, as they're rather graceful, and less massive. not quite sure on what difference is? ok, so unless you really want it, we will remove the second couch from the room. also can you put the tv into one of the cabinets? if not then you should move the couch in front of the windows and place tv on the big wall. do you own any of the chairs showing?

Just a thought, have you considered adding built-ins/floating shelves around the fireplace? You mentioned reading. You could fill up the built-ins with books/memorabilia and imo would look great. Yes to a art piece above the fireplace, no clock. Huge yes to adding greenery around the space in general. Go with your most recently added photo with the chairs positioned around the coffee table! Looks great. I would upgrade the chairs to modernize + match your couch a bit better if you have it within your budget to do so. I would consider leather to add texture + warmth. I would also consider a coffee table with a smaller footprint, consider a slimmer rectangular one to provide more space to walk through on each side, as well as adding some type of credenza or floating shelf like the other user suggested to give the tv wall that something it’s missing. :)

Thank you for the great feedback. We did go ahead and get some custom cellular shades and are in the process of adding crown moulding in the room and head treatments over the window. Not sure I want to cover it with curtains but still an idea. I didn’t mention before, but the right side is open to the hallway and stair case. I did get measured for custom cabinetry and shelves on the main wall with the tv. In the meantime I did add some additional decor...ordered a chair for the corner. I appreciate all the food feedback.
