computer making clicking sounds..
Comments (10)If the sounds are coming from the speakers then it might be just when the computer looks for updates online for the various programs. If it comes from the tower itself then perhaps it is as the hard drive activates, mine is a noisy hard drive but the particular model is known for that. Keeping a computer running or not is purely a personal choice, neither way is right or wrong necessarily. I ran mine for years when they were doing some distributed computing trying to find a cure for cancer. Never hurt them at all, just the hydro bill. Still run mostly 24/7 through laziness I s'pose. Wouldn't hurt to hang on to the box for a while, once you are satisfied the computer is running good than you might decide to get rid of the box....See MoreWoke up to this
Comments (20)It's possible the remote is stuck and sending the signal to the TV. Pull the battery, which anytime you have a battery appliance get wet, the first thing to do is pull the battery. Then the TV should work from the set. Wash off the remote, dry it and it might be fine. Dry it well, over a week or two and moving air helps. The rice bag or silica, Damp Rid or something will help. When we had the store we used plain glass cleaner to clean keyboards that had spills or sludge buildups. Drench it and a slight rinse, then a thorough drying in front of a fan, moved often so all moisture would work out of all the spaces and it saved many a keyboard. Although keyboards were more expensive then. When they got super cheap, I told people to toss them and buy new. The problem with universal remotes is two-fold in my book: 1) They're not truly "universal". I've got 3 or 4 in a drawer that don't work with various TVs; and 2) You don't have access to all of the controls on the TV such as brightness, programming, etc. You have on/off and volume and channel changing essentially. I prefer the right remote for the set. Annoying? Yes. But don't cry over spilled coffee. No injuries, and as we say in Minnesota, "could be worse". And my favorite line is from Young Frankenstein, Could be worse.... could be raining (with the rumble of thunder in the background. :) And Dotmom, at least it was the TV and not the coffeemaker this time, huh? :D Hope you're having a fabulous day. It's really pretty nice outside. Wanna build a snowman?...See MoreHigh-end oven question: Who makes the best convection ovens?
Comments (67)Speak for yourself, Homechef! I always noticed and worked with the temperatures in my old ovens! S What!, the microwave is good for a fast heat of a single thing at a time. For reheating mixed foods or several portions nothing beats a steam oven! Kim Laden, those instructions are shocking! I understand choosing an oven if there are two timers. The rest sounds like they didn't even test it during the design phase. Like with someone who cooks dinner. What model were you looking at? I just had to see for myself and looked up the manuals at AJMadison (which loads faster than Bosch): Bosch Benchmark Series HBLP651UC The kitchen timer can also be set by pressing the clock/timer touchpad at the left of the control panel. The timer input “00:00” value blinks in the center of the display. Enter the desired timer value with the numeric touchpads and press “Enter” to start the timer Bosch Benchmark Series HBLP651LUC Sideswing is the same. Cancel by touching the kitchen timer softkey or opening the door. That's the part I don't like. Losing the timer when you open the door. But that might mean that the sound of a finish timer ends then, not that it resets. I don't know. One could ask the forum. I know there are owners here. There is also something called an "oven timer" which will turn off the oven when it hits zero....See MoreHelp! My oven is making me sick!
Comments (22)I have a couple of 14 x 20 registers with 3M Filtrite filters on an eight-foot ceiling above my wall ovens. These registers are connected to an external blower via a silencer. They perhaps move 600 CFM, but I haven't measured it. They will help remove warm air that rises toward the ceiling. This could come from the oven ventilation, but note that oven ventilation is used for cooling, and does not entrain oven interior air. However, these register vents do not, and can not, deal with opening an oven that has just finished broiling a steak, or cooking a turkey, or some other fairly greasy function. That effluent spreads outward from the door and the only effect of the ceiling registers is to slowly remove the contaminants just as a distant cooktop hood will do. To truly deal with oven effluent, either the oven has to be under a large hood pulling air past the oven door, or else a true ceiling ventilation system is needed with its attendant high flow rates, special grease elimination technology, and high MUA needs. What do these fumes smell like? Carbonizing meat should be different than electrical insulation or some cleaning agent....See Morebeesneeds
