Houzz changes format .....
Comments (26)@Chi83. Yes, I set the system up so it does it automatically. It's a good practice for me to sign in each time. It helps me to remember the different user names & passwords that I set up for different sites. @Jasdip. The banner appears as you scroll down the page. If you're either at the top or bottom of the page, the banner won't be there. If the banner is smaller/less, it wouldn't have bothered me. But this thing takes half of the page. The message that I get from it is that either I'm allowed to read by logged in or not at all. If this forum was a paid membership, I can understand this restriction. However, it's not! Is Houzz trying to turn away readers? What's their point?...See MoreDear Houzz, We're All Having Problems With Photos
Comments (49)Random placement: I haven't had that problem, but I always make sure my curser is at the bottom of the page when I start to upload a photo. If you've clicked outside the message box, the curser sends the photo (or link) to the top of the message (or where ever the curser is in the message.)...See MoreYikes! Another format change to Houzz
Comments (9)I have a bookmark to RMG as well. I haven't been coming to the forum that much in the last few months, so not sure if it changed awhile back or if it's a recent change! I added a clip of what it looks like for me now. I put red lines around that parts I don't remember being like that before. I definitely don't remember having to select topics, and the other things I circled. I think the part at the top that you use to make a new post is a little confusing because it says 'what are you working on?' - doesn't really apply to RMG, and I first thought that it might post to Houzz in general and not RMG. But I think it gave me a choice afterwards that I had to select to where I wanted it posted. Again, I don't remember having to do that before because I was on the RMG page, so it knew to post there! It's ok, just got to get used to it!! Does it look like this to you? I use Firefox browser, and am on Windows 7....See MoreHOUZZ, your new format SUCKS BIG TIME!
Comments (108)While I will admit that some do seem have difficulties navigating or posting (I think most of that is due to a less than ideally compatible device or browser) I do not find the new format any more difficult to work with or use or navigate than it was before. Different, yes.........but no less user friendly (in many ways it is more user-friendly). And I think some are just a lot more resistant to change than others :-) As an old time GW user (here since almost from the start in the late 90s with Spike), the site has gone through a lot of changes over the years and with different ownership, much good and some not so good. It took me just a couple of days to become comfy with the new format and I have no issues with it now. My primary complaint is with cross posting. While it is NOT a requirement, many seem to think it is so you get threads posted to 3 completely unrelated forums. And those new folks entering directly from the Houzz side of the platform with gardening questions do not realize there are several dozens of gardening forums and just post in the Gardens or Landscape Design forum (the only GW forum that shows up in the Houzz topics listing as well as GW) and I find that very irritating. The LD forum is frequently innundated with completely inappropriate questions!! And I don't find it to be any less of a "community" than it was before. Depending on what forums one frequents, all the same old regular posters are present for the most part with the same friendly interchange and bantering. 11otis, if you scroll up to the start of this thread, you will find that it is posted to the Soils, Compost and Mulch forum in addition to a couple of others. Click on that forum title and it will take you directly to ALL the threads on that forum. Really couldn't be much easier............. :-)...See Morechispa
