Will you help me choose a new kitchen table?

Last fall, we had our hardwood floors refinished and took the opportunity to make a slight adjustment in the placement of our kitchen island in order to gain more work space between the island and the perimeter cabinets. Previously, we had a table (36" X 60") placed perpendicular to the island in order to accommodate our family of 5. Now, we have less space for a table, but it's only the two of us. We have been thinking about using a 42" table in either round with a pedestal or square with 4 legs. We have been looking at Canadel because they have so many options, but I cannot make up my mind on a shape, style or color for the table. Will you help me choose??? Round or square? Pedestal or legs? Stained or white washed??? Whatever we choose, the table will be placed right next to the island.
Here is another table I found that might work, but it is slightly larger at 44" round.

And here are some pictures of the space as it is right now. The table in the picture is 36" wide. The light fixture will change after we find a new table. Also, we are still considering changing the countertops to something lighter.

If it will help, I can post another picture of this space without the table and chairs next to the island. Thanks for your help!

I love that table..we have a round table with an antique wrought iron base and a dark walnut top. I live the look. I think it would look nice in your space. I think two dark chairs to match the top is necessary.

Here is another option from Charleston Forge. It is available with a wood top.

Thanks for the feedback guys... I am glad there is not a consensus. That means I cannot make a wrong decision, right? Actually, my mom helped me out today. She has a very good eye for all things decorative, and she felt the existing pendants were definitely too big. That actually surprised me a bit because she likes things big and blingy! Anywho, I ordered four of the regatta pendants and extenders so I can keep the height around 6ft. Here is a pic of my mockup. This is from straight on. Thanks so much for your feedback. I will definitely post pics again when everything is complete.

Here are photos of the rest of the house. I'm not proud of the quality of the images, but they get the point across, I hope. The front patio and front door: The Living Room, panorama showing all four walls: The Dining Room, panorama showing 3 walls. Detail of the Dining Room paint. The lower walls is Zolotone with pink, two shades of grey, and off white. The trim is painted pink and off-white. The blind on the right is the fourth wall of the dining room, not visible in prior image - a built-in bookcase full of photography books, hidden behind a blind to protect them from the UV rays. (Yikes, nothing like a closeup image to show how dirty and worn things are.) The Dining Room is connected to the Kitchen through a single door, with very little visual connection. Bathroom, 5x7 feet: Office #1, 10x10 feet, aka Library, aka Green Room. Panorama showing all four walls makes it very distorted, but gives a sense of what the room is like. Office #2, also 10x10 feet. The only hall: The old Kitchen, looking along the north wall to the west wall. (I can't wait until this kitchen is GONE!) The old kitchen south wall, photo taken from the doorway to the dining room. We have removed the window to the left of the fridge, as the little table at that window was dead space that we never used.

New coffee table - Help me choose a design and materials

I like anything with round corners. A klutz like me is bound to run my knee or chin into square or rectangular corners!!!!! The problem is, round is a different look than square or rectangular corners. You have mostly a monochromatic look to your room, so you may want to continue with that for your coffee table. Also, your colors are mostly cool. I like to stick to all cool or all warm colors in a room. Here are cool colors: bright white, light gray, silver tones, ice cool pink, ice cool yellow, bright cool yellow, ice cool blue, royal blue, forest green, cool blue red, light ice green, purple, navy, black. Warm colors: off-white, cream, gold and brass tones, beige, tan, peach, orange, orange red. olive green, golden yellow, brown. Of course, as you mentioned, you want the coffee table to go with the kitchen, so that will be a coordinating task. Brass is a warm color.

I was surprised to see this thread pop up. It's kind of interesting timing because we JUST last week ended up buying a table and chairs from the consignment store where I work! I just could not make up my mind on which way to go with a new table and then lo and behold, this nice table and 4 chairs showed up. It's 36" X 48" and is working our great for the 2 of us. It's made by Bermex, which is very similar to Canadel. Of course, this only begins the process of changing so many other things like the light fixture, the wall color, the appliances and the counter top!!! I already have new fabric for recovering the chair seats.

I know..............lots of wood, but I just cannot justify having the cabinets painted white because they are only about 15 year old maple cabinets in VERY good condition. And even tho I say, that, there is still a part of me that revisits the idea of painting every once in awhile.
