Is This A PC Scam or Legit?

I keep getting this pop-up request to download this app (see pic belo. I don't want it or need it and not even sure what it is. It's been popping up about every 3 days or so and I just X it out, then it returns persistently. Is it legit? How do I get rid of it permanently? Thanks for any info.

Not a virus per se but it you didn't request it I'd uninstall

Yeah, it looks like a legitimate update, which you should let it do if you like it.

Myself, I'd uninstall it. It looks like the free version serves ads, which in my mind makes it not really free: https://kingsoftoffice.desk.com/customer/portal/questions/16323018-ads and https://www.wps.com/en-US/premium

I have MS Office 365 in Windows although I rarely use it. But I use the Terabyte of offsite storage. If I didn't care about the offsite storage, I'd use LibreOffice: https://www.libreoffice.org/

No ads, no nags to upgrade, etc. It's free, and open source. I use it daily in Linux.

Many, or possibly most Linux distros come with it preinstalled. Which is how I wound up using it.

some of the most common sites have fallen prey to hackers using poor code or outdated scripts on a site to put into the site a malicious link, I am talking very reputable sites and the site owners have no idea it happened till they start getting feed back telling them it is happening then they find the culprit. So never assume the site is safe just best to say well I hope it is safe but will always use caution and keep my programs updated and run those scans regularly. Do not be scared when you see something like this happen it is exactly what you want your program to do, I much prefer a false positive over the alternative! But anytime you have a question copy down the info that is provided so you can come here well informed so we can try to find out what the situation was. The name is essential because these days the rogue programs that are out there are very close in looks and names to the real programs so please do take the time to look at it closely and write down the exact name. agree never click on links in an email that you are not sure of, that is why I said I would go with the contact yahoo. and definitely I should have said do not contact them through the email but directly from your actual email client account at yahoo. No idea if this one is a scam or not but just in case I would report it to Yahoo. And make sure you always use a very strong password that is not an actual word but is comprised of letters and characters in a non-sense method. sounds like you need to do some updates that is how those usually get on when you have not fully updated all the stuff on the pc that needs updating. Go do all your windows updates then run the Secunia scan and do all those that say they need updating. I would also add malwarebytes free on the pc and update it and run full scan with it weekly. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (Win) - Detecting and Removing Malware Secunia Online Software Inspector (OSI) if you do not have spywareblaster on your pc you should add it, it is free just be sure you select the free version, then update it weekly and hit the enable all protection button so the shield turns green thats it. Thanks guys! When I said that it keeps returning after I "X" it, I really meant to say that I click on "No". But it doesn't take No for an answer since it keeps returning. I did not request this app and it's vague on what it represents. When clicking onto "show more details" it only states something about it being software made in China and not much else about it's function.

As you may have guessed I'm a computer novice and use my "All-in-One" HP PC only for emailing, buying stuff online, and visiting forums like this, nothing else. Thanks again on the instructions on how to get rid of it, I'll get into that when time permits.

Did you try Googling it to see what it is? Try that to see if its something you are using and don't recognize the name.
