what color cabinets would you choose with black appliances?
Comments (10)I'm not good at giving detained decorating directions--although you might checkt the decorating forum. I would Google or whatever, "tropical" decorating themes, also look at British colonial-- think dark woods, plus rattan or bamboo. Look at fabrics or bedding in tropical prints--do certain color combinations really send you? You might find a picture of a room that is not a kitchen, but that you can base your kitchen on--especially if is combined with family room. Dark woods and appliances can look good with all the citrus colors --more acid-y yellows and greens, corals and peaches and so forth. There is also a great color scheme using dark woods, white/ivories, and ocean blues, but I am not a "cool" person so I don't gravitate to that--but can admire it in another's room. Decide which things you already have and will not change--? you said curtains--such as sofa fabric, rug; what are you able to change or add for accent--maybe don't want wallpaper in kitchen, but found a great tropical print for throw pillows and will pick up some of those colors. It is easier to collect some of these swatches or samples, and photos, and then try to see what color or stain of cabinet seems best and most "timeless" (though there may be almost no such thing), because certainly wall paint colors and room accent pieces can be changed over the years. I think you are still refining your "vision," so I would work on getting that in a concrete form--your "story board" of colors, materials, combinations that send you--once you get it, you will be better able to see what choices to make to translate that into kitchen materials....See MoreI would like some paint color ideas for kitchen
Comments (9)margaret here again. They first did a light blue but didn’t like it and then repainted with a medium blue. They went with white subway tile with I think gray grout. The classic subway tile Like 2 by 6 the long rectangular tile. I thought it looked really nice and going with a little darker blue looked better with their black granite countertops. It was a nice area to spend time in. I hope that helps. My daughter does not remember the blue and they moved out of town about 6 months ago. Just go get some blues sample colors to hang on the wall. the blue wasn’t a blue green That much I know. The first one almost looked baby blue if I remember. I liked the blue so much I’m painting my kitchen walls blue too that much I know but still deciding on cabinet color. i think I’m redoing my cabinets tuxedo style. Just retired and bought a home and instead of replacing my cabinets I’m going to travel. Lol. cabinets lights I had below my cabinet in my condo I liked a lot. My daughter and son in law put in cam lights but they just gave me a migraine....See MoreKitchen layout - help needed! (Appliance and item placement)
Comments (21)So I need a to scale floor plan nothing in it except for showing the window placement. The sizes of the appliances all mwasurements clearly marked on graph paper posted here in a comment DO NOT start another post .I like my trash under my sink since to give up storage for trash never makes sense to me I take my trash out ecery day who wants that sitting any longer I have a pullout with 2 small bins one for recycling and one for trash , I also have my DW pods in a cintainer under there and my compost . I have back to back sinks in my kitchen since hubby and I cook together so he does prep on the side with the pullous and I cook on the other side .Counter depth frisge lose about 10% of the storage but IMO so much better . I run a catering biz from my home with a counter depth fridge. I do suggest better glass storage in side the fridge for leftovers they can be stacked . there are many ways to make kitchens functional for how you cook. Post the plan here and see what can be done. BTW since almost everyone ends up in the kitchen I do not have a big issue with seeing the kitchen you just need to be a bit tidier when cooking I use my DW quick cycle a lot when working in the kitchen it takes 23 minutes so can often do 6-8 loads a day when I am busy. I do all my pots in there too....See MoreHelp with paint colors, furniture ideas and placement.
Comments (10)Maybe post a pic here of what you think of as coastal. IMO nothing in the space says coastal and for sure not the overstaffed furniture . Nothing really faces the TV dead on so i think I need a to scale floor plan for sure. Use graph paper show every window doorways and where those lead. Then a list of what has to stay . For me the first thing I would do is get one more recliner and get rid of the loveseat or move it to another room. A new rug with some color to start the color scheme for more "coastal" So something like this with some color .Maybe piaint the wood pieces white and then add asome pillows with the blue , white and maybe a pale green Like this then paint the walls areally pale green that is in the pillows . That will all lighten up the space and make it feel much more "coasta"...See MoreRelated Professionals
