Split living room 18'x15' - Fire place & TV across from each other
Comments (46)@straitlover - yes it was, but we've pushed the chair with the ottoman back a bit and it looks great - aligns perfectly. When we swapped the chairs, we created less room because the chair and ottoman needed more room and the fireplace sticks out about two feet. Since that chair and ottoman takes up more space, sliding it back further into the notch area/corner by the window, where there is no fireplace, it fits better. I'll take some pics tomorrow with no fisheye :-D Game of Thrones now!! Hopefully you're a fan!! Thanks again for the ideas!!...See MoreWhat on early to do with this odd space??
Comments (15)Is it a floor that could hold weight? If so, you could change the railing so it turns and continues above the fireplace all across the overhang and then add a small corner cabinet with glass front door to display your favorite family treasures and/or seasonal decorations. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Coaster-Company-Eden-Corner-Curio-Cabinet-Golden-Brown/19214258 http://notife.club/post/ https://www.howardmillerusa.com/display-cabinets/corner-display-cabinets/680-347-howard-miller-display-cabinets-corner-display-cabinets.html If you don't mind dusting, you could use an open shelving unit or create corner shelves by hanging them directly onto the wall. https://www.wayfair.com/home/hd0/-l508-k~w002098034.html?sku=W002098034&refid=GX386023977016-W002098034_207742486 https://www.homedepot.com/pep/Furinno-Turn-N-Tube-Espresso-Black-5-Shelf-Corner-Open-Shelf-99811EX-BK/301773104?mtc=Shopping-BA-F_HDH-G-D59-59_34_INTERIOR_FURNITURE-MULTI-NA-Feed-PLA-NA-NA-Home_Office&cm_mmc=Shopping-BA-F_HDH-G-D59-59_34_INTERIOR_FURNITURE-MULTI-NA-Feed-PLA-NA-NA-Home_Office-71700000048685358-58700004834194635-92700046771713994&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIrcCBjaes5QIVAobICh0BaQUNEAQYASABEgIsM_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds. https://www.homedepot.com/pep/Furinno-Turn-N-Tube-Espresso-Black-5-Shelf-Corner-Open-Shelf-99811EX-BK/301773104?mtc=Shopping-BA-F_HDH-G-D59-59_34_INTERIOR_FURNITURE-MULTI-NA-Feed-PLA-NA-NA-Home_Office&cm_mmc=Shopping-BA-F_HDH-G-D59-59_34_INTERIOR_FURNITURE-MULTI-NA-Feed-PLA-NA-NA-Home_Office-71700000048685358-58700004834194635-92700046771713994&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIrcCBjaes5QIVAobICh0BaQUNEAQYASABEgIsM_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds...See Morevery small, odd shaped living room with no room for a couch, help!
Comments (10)Hey Mikeala, while you may have to make some compromises due to space restrictions, you can definitely fit a compact couch in the room. As @mindshift recommends, it would a good idea to keep all your furniture compact and as small as possible. I've made a couple of options for you here. (All dimensions are approximated from the images you have posted) For the first layout, I've eliminated the coffee table and added a slim console by the entrance, a wall mounted TV and an end table. You could also buy nested tables so you could stack them when they aren't being used. For the area by the staircase, I've added a tall bookcase and a couple of chairs for extra seating. adding a mirror would give a sense of a larger space, I've styled this room with modern furniture with a touch of hollywood glam. For the second option, the entrance is more open although the TV unit has been placed on the large wall. This allows TV viewing from both seating areas and yet separates the space. You may prefer this layout if you don't like the idea of having a living right at the entrance. I've styled this room with Scandinavian furniture. Do send us measurements and photos so we could further customize these for you. You could also add/ swap furniture and make your own layouts here....See MoreHow to add colour to living room with odd slanted walls?
Comments (14)I guess, the bird of paradise would have to be the one to find a home for, if it is causing the rest of the room to look off balanced. Maybe it could go outside for summer months, and inside during winter. I also agree, on a large painting of some kind (doesnt have to be expensive), in colors you like for the room, rather than all those smaller pictures on the left side of the room, and the shelf unit that is on the blue wall, should be centered on the wall, not all pushed to one side. All the plants under the side windows, could be clustered together, in an arrangement, instead of just lined up along the wall. Its a challenging room, but, it can be done. :-)...See MoreAngie D
