Keep the mirror. Try trading the artwork for another piece you already have to get a new look.

I would remove it. It is a dated look from the late '80s, but that is not my reason. I would remove it, firstly because I find it very distracting to be trying to relax in a living room, in those lovely chairs, and see my movements constantly reflected out of the corner of my eye. Secondly, because the mirror is seamed down the center on a wall that is not very wide, a kind of cheap look, like someone didn't want to pay for a mirror that was larger that would cost more. Sorry, just MHO. Thirdly, I don't find the mirror in keeping with your more traditional decor of your grandfather clock, upholstery, lamp, art (all of which I love). I would remove it, drywall it, and put lovely art there. It would make it a more cozy corner.

Edited to add: if you remove the mirror, you will have to match the crown molding on that wall. Just a heads up.

I find it rather amusing that we collectively rush to remove mirrored walls (even when they're executed well, as this one appears to be) and then we can't wait to hang up framed mirrors to "visually expand the space." Not that that's your intent, but just musing over what we collectively seem to find acceptable and consider "in" or "out". Having just priced mirror installation for a home gym, I would encourage you not to be in a hurry to remove yours unless you just really dislike them. I think they work nicely, and would probably keep them.

Who said that? I don't see that in the comments. I also disagree that these mirrors on this wall are executed well, as I mentioned.

Did I say it was said in this thread? It has, however, been suggested many times over the years in this forum. I'm merely sharing my thoughts, Miranda, just as you've shared yours. Don't take my opinion about someone else's mirrored wall personally.

I have the same issue with a wall. Thinking about adding antique mirrored trim to make smaller squares.

That looks great! We had mirrored closet doors-about four feet long-- in our den. The mirrors made it looks so cluttered. We put regular doors on it and now it looks much cleaner/less busy.

I should add I have three windows in this room and it opens to another room with three windows. I was worried that the room would feel smaller vs losing natural light.

^^Idk what the cluttered comment is referring to, certainly not the "after" photo. I disagree that mirrors expand the space. My home had early-90s mirrors all over the place when I moved in. It didn't expand the space whatsoever, just created distracting movement and awkward reflections, and was a constant reminder of the time period the home was built. Got rid of them all, and have calm drywall with well-placed art. The OP's update looks great.
