What color door would you do?
Comments (55)Re: painting the inside of the wood door. I would not do that. IMO a wood door looks good with every decor if it’s the front door. I have also been told that if you do a treatment on one side of a piece of wood (table or door, for example) it will eventually warp. If you’re going to buy a drop-dead-gorgeous craftsman door, don’t paint it. The one in my old house was ordered from Oregon and the house is in NY. It still looks good, according to my neighbors....See Morewhat colour door
Comments (13)I'd start by going to all the paint stores, plus Lowes, HDepot, etc., to get samples of stain colors and bring them home. Since the door trim is vinyl, stain will not be absorbed as it would be with wood, so choose a solid stain....See MoreWhat colour door? What colour fence? Please help!
Comments (7)Ditto what @jck910 said! Is there a downspout missing on far right corner? If yes, is it white? I’m thinking about the entry light over the door - black doesn’t seem to fit & not sure about white. What do you think about a color to match roof? It looks like a different light than on the original white house so maybe instead of replacing it could be spray painted with a coppery metalcolor - rustoleum type paint? That’s a nice job done replacing the original stone retaining walls & steps. How about widening the left side planting bed to add another layer of lower flowering shrubs? Add to the great cottage look you have....See Morewhat color door for an all white house close to the water.
Comments (12)No sure about Wyeth with the metal roof. Consider another HC color, Somerville Red. Add pinks and purple in your plantings. This is an area of my garden with knockout roses and beardtongue. I don't know how much care you want to do for foundation plantings, but you might like this idea: Vintage Jade Distylium is a fantastic evergreen shrub with layered branches that forms an intermediate spreading mound in the landscape. This shape makes it ideal for foundation plantings or covering large areas. Its lustrous, dark green, disease resistant foliage is attractive all season long and can serve as a replacement for boxwood and other evergreens that suffer from disease and pest issues. It is a hardy plant and easily trimmed back....See Morecat_ky
