What Have You Been Doing Today?
Comments (14)Got up this morning and cleaned the house up a little bit. Alex came over around 1:00 to have birthday cake & ice cream and eat lunch with us. He wanted curry & rice for his birthday meal and we ate and talked on Skype with Maria, our exchange student from two years ago. He then left with leftover curry and a bunch of frozen spaghetti I made him last night. It should last him a few weeks unless he eats it every single night. I also gave him most of his birthday cake for him and his friends to eat. Lauren, Duray and I then went to Louisville to eat at a German restaurant we've never been to. Duray's first time for German food. It was ok, nothing great. Tiny place in a strip mall, run by three family members. Then we went to the mall to find a little birthday gift for Sola, our Korean exchange student from last year. We just got home a little bit ago. Lauren drove there and back. I find myself relaxing a little more and she's doing pretty good....See MoreWhat's for dinner Monday?
Comments (12)Georgysmom, what a good idea to stop for soup to go with your fried rice. I'll have to remember that tip. Glenda, glad Miss Myra wasn't out of the smoked chicken salad today. Got any cobbler left for a snack tonight? Jean, what a dinner! Let us know how the potatoes turned out--did you finish them in the oven? That's a lot of stuffing for your chicken and I bet it's going to be delicious. Jasdip, did you make individual biscuits to put on top or jay the dough across the whole top? Fruit is always a good thing for dessert--especially in summer when so many good ones are in season. Mary, glad the rain stayed away and I too hope the shot will help. It's great you finally have a date for your surgery. You'll feel ever so much better....See MoreWhat have You Been Doing Today?
Comments (10)It was Monday... I was greeted at work with a squealing computer power source/surge protector. We'd lost power in every electrical outlet one on side (the library side) of the building. I ran extension cords to power the suge protector and my library computer so I could work until my boss decided what to do. 22 kids came to story time. This is the best part of my job! Today we read about imagining what we could be when we grew up then drew our adult selves on the sidewalk with chalk. I'm going to be a cowgirl.... Then some patrons came in to use the computers. These two are regular abusers. I have two computer stations. She uses one of the libraries machine. He parks his butt in the other patron computer station and uses his laptop. And they will stay there forever. Even though I TOLD them we were having electrical problems the guy said 'oh I can plug here' and pulled the power to the library computer. Good thing I back up every day! My library software is corrupted. I can't access books or patrons. As husband would say 'I'm dead in the water' I called tech support. It seems our subscription expired June 30, 2009. Lots of people visited today and checked out books. I wrote down names and barcode numbers (about a hundred books), emailed my boss and put it all in his lap and came home. Now I am editing and uploading photos. Comments (12)Got off to a bad start this morning! Pattie43, I so empathize with you. I am not a morning person. Never was even when I was young and now that I'm old and decrepit, that is just the way it is. The maintenance man was across the street making some kind of noise at 7 o'clock this morning. That is very unusual and I chastised him for it. I had breakfast, checked out the TV news and fell back to sleep. I thought I had a Dr. appointment this afternoon, and realized around noon, that it is tomorrow, so that left my afternoon free. As I mentioned in another post I spent some time watching a building being demolished. Then I had dinner which was just left overs that I ate cold. Then I went out to the porch and a neighbor stopped by and brought me a dish of Hot Fruit Salad. I went across the street and talked to one neighbor for a few minutes, then stopped in at another neighbors and as I left she gave me a dish of a casserole she had made, and two beautiful local peaches. It was 9:30 by then so I watched the last half of Nancy Grace and snacked on blueberries and banana in Cool Whip. I've been on the computer since. So that is "A day in the life of ME." Good night.
