Trying to stay warm!

Okay, raise your hand if you want to go help eat all that food Sue cooked today...........

I did some cleaning, some cooking, paid some bills, always have jobs that can be done. All of my list has been completed, and just have dishes to wash.

PS: That's me today too, Glenda........trying to stay warm. It's no colder than yesterday but seems to be a dampness in the air that keeps me shivering.

We got home yesterday about dawn. Did some house cleaning and some wash. Napped for half an hour. Managed to stay upright until after dinner, then fell into bed. This morning DH actually slept in, but the dog got me up at 6 a.m., so I began catching up on the mail -- filing stuff we'd had forwarded and paying bills on stuff that had arrived since we stopped the forwarding last week, including some things our neighbor had received while we were away. (We do not have a wonderful mail carrier!) I wish we had a different fiscal tax year; so much end-of-year tax stuff comes in now.

At least we didn't have any exciting electrical problems like Marilyn Sue's family, and we are warm (indoors). Right now I see six or seven robins outside my kitchen window -- Think Spring!

You've been so busy. Scary about the fire! I did a little housecleaning, walked uptown to my town's annual Saint Patricks Parade, actually met my Senator Chuck Shumer, who was there shaking hands and smiling at babies, all part of the job. They were giving out Guinness and hot pretzels,but too crowded for my taste. So I bought a prepared Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner (called a "CBC") and DH and I split it. Then our daughter came over to hook up our new DVD player, she's so sweet and such a genius!

Hubby braved the miserable cold, damp, gloomy weather and made us grilled chicken breasts on the Weber charcoal grill.

Very nice.

We've had more cold damp gloomy weather this year than any other winter in recent memory (as in, the last eight years).

Dreary!

However, we picked the right year to install gas-fired unvented logs. Flick of the switch and we have instant heat and fire! I love it.

Just had them put in after Thanksgiving 2012.

I had an AWESOME day so far.
Today was do your hand washables day. Then I worked on getting that guest room empty for the Murphy Bed... later went to the remodel and gardening show locally,
walked to Bass Pro, from there, cause I am looking for a tent fan...
then home via the Salvation Army store, where I didn't find anything "neat", ate, and back to working on that room.... no, not yet... still here at the puter.... LOL

but will get off now, and get cracking.

Had to go to the bank before they closed at noon, filled up the gas tank (at $3.75, yesterday it was $3.82), hurried on into the pharmacy to pick up a prescription and made it home before expected company.

I thought I'd have time afterwards to do some touch-up painting of my kitchen ceiling where the beadboard has shifted and what looks like, but aren't, cracks. But it got too late. Ate supper and now ready to crawl under the wool throw in front of the TV and try to stay warm! I've been cold all day.

Went to a bridal shower this morning, a baby shower this afternoon and a fish fry at the ice shack this evening. Making my way to the fish fry soon. Just sat down to take a break before heading out again. I'm tired. DH has been at the shack all day and trying to catch more fish - they have more than enough now to feed an army. LOL.

Played shuffleboard early this morning and then went out for lunch.Then off to do lots of errands and then seeing how gas prices went down filled up tank too.
Came home, unpacked my things, fed the birds.

Waiting for the next storm, expect 4-6 inches of snow,and cold. Planning to go to DD birthday and her daughter is cooking. Catching up on paper work, playing a new game on the computer and now watching TV.
Sue, I cannot believe your GD is turning TWO!. It seems like she was just born. Happy Birthday--Big Girl!!

I haven't done much. I have been cold most of the day, and I just want to hibernate when it is cold. I amused myself sending an email to a Nigerian scammer who emailed about a boat we have for sale. Bought groceries, ate Mexican food, and took a short nap with a couple of my cats.

I shoveled snow to get to my garbage can. The neighbor I pay to clear my drive uses his snow blower which then puts a mound around my trash can. I also cleared some snow from my sidewalks. We are supposed to get more snow Sunday night through Tuesday morning. We have a basketball game on Monday night that I will not miss because it is the last home game of the season. They honor the senior players at that game.

Got up this morning and cleaned the house up a little bit. Alex came over around 1:00 to have birthday cake & ice cream and eat lunch with us. He wanted curry & rice for his birthday meal and we ate and talked on Skype with Maria, our exchange student from two years ago. He then left with leftover curry and a bunch of frozen spaghetti I made him last night. It should last him a few weeks unless he eats it every single night. I also gave him most of his birthday cake for him and his friends to eat.

Lauren, Duray and I then went to Louisville to eat at a German restaurant we've never been to. Duray's first time for German food. It was ok, nothing great. Tiny place in a strip mall, run by three family members. Then we went to the mall to find a little birthday gift for Sola, our Korean exchange student from last year. We just got home a little bit ago. Lauren drove there and back. I find myself relaxing a little more and she's doing pretty good.

Doing laundry, opening all the snail(paper) mail that came while we were away.
And, looking out the window at grey skies, and remembering the bright sun and beautiful mountains of Palm Springs.
We had a great time, but back to reality and grey skies.
