does drip irrigation really work with a rain barrel? Need honesty

So I have a 50 gallon tank about 5 feet above my 3 by 8 ft raised bed. Last summer I tried desperately to figure out the drip irrigation but just couldn't get it to work practically. I know there are a ton of YouTube videos and tutorials but what would end up happening was either the end plants would get all the water or the beginning plants. I then tried to use a soaker hose but there just wasn't enough pressure for it to work. I've looked into getting a pump for the barrel (attached go a solar panel) but I've been told that 1) it isn't the safest method of you are trying to be organic or 2) it'll drain the barrel in 6 minutes then you're out of luck until it rains again. ANY thoughts or opinions will be greatly appreciated, and of you have any specific drip systems that work I would love a link or picture that could send me to the exact product. Thabk you so much for any help you can give.
