Fireplace size vs firebox size -is there a formula?

Hi, we are down to the final details of our upcoming remodel/addition as we are scheduled to have footers staked and poured in the next couple of weeks. One of the final details that DH and I are debating is the fireplace size in our living room.

The room is approximately 19'6" wide by 25' deep. It runs front to back of our ranch house. The base ceiling height is 8' throughout the house but we will be framing/re-framing this room to have a cathedral ceiling that will have a max height of 12ish feet in the center also running front to back. Our 4/12 pitch prevents us from getting much height but some is better than none to us. The fireplace will be centered on the wall that is 25' and will have a tv over the mantel (with a mantel mount). DH wants the fireplace to be wood burning since we have a plethora of wood lying around our farm.

Is there a formula or ratio in determining what the ideal fireplace width should be for a room and also what size the firebox opening should be. DH's brother's fireplace is 91" wide with a 50" opening. They are able to have a 61" wide tv over the mantle and it all looks very proportional. HOWEVER, their room is also two stories tall (not cathedral). Will that size be way too massive for our room?
