Need help with master bath tile?!
Comments (9)This is cool! I went to the great idea photo website houzz dot com. In the search box at the top I typed the words white subway tile bathroom. The photos that resulted are great and you can see the floor in a lot of them. So many approaches but I suggest you spend time with them and do 'save as' to your PC to keep as inspiration photos. I did that with kitchens and printed the photos taking my favorites with me when I went tile shopping to show the salespersons. Shopping in person for tile really helps since people who work there know more than I did about tile and design. Here our tile stores were so busy back then (pre recession) that it was best to make an appointment to get full attention at the store. Good luck! Here is a link that might be useful: Houzz inspiration photos website - white subway results...See More1960's Kitchen Update
Comments (17)I think you could paint SOME of the cherry, using creamy white. I like to mix different cabinet finishes in a kitchen. Perhaps the drawer cabinet under the peninsula could be painted, with some bun feet or legs added to make it seem like a period piece that was integrated into the kitchen. That way, you could fix the drawers, get rid of the faux brick end, and then cover the whole thing with nice fresh paint. And the cabinet to the left of the fridge could also be painted cream, both the top and the bottom as if it were a small vintage hutch. I agree that the cherry is beautiful (especially that side piece by the fridge) but it is rather monolithic and brown....See MoreI am remodeling a master bath and need help with wet room tile.
Comments (5)Lisa just a word of caution. Glass tile in a wet area has many risks. Don't assume your installer is qualified for glass installations. Special setting techniques are needed. Get the installation instructions directly from the manufacturer and make sure it's followed. Most require special mortar while some require mastic which can't be used in a wet area. Some glass can be installed over a impervious waterproof membrane while others no. Some Ok with epoxy grout others not. Be sure the glass can withstand the thermal shock from being cold to being hit with hot water. Research glass tile ghosting. Best of luck with your project....See MoreHelp - need advice on updated a master bath tub?
Comments (2)My tub was from 1999 so way worse! Yours does not look bad! I updated 3 years ago to a free standing tub and love it! You will have to replace flooring though since it will show on a free standing tub. You will also have to fix the walls where the tile was. We did a total master bath remodel. My recommendations would be to go to a large bath/kitchen showroom and sit in some tubs to see how you like them! Also to figure out the size you want. Most run very large. I am only 5'2" so didn't want a 7' tub where I would just float around in! Mine is 5 feet I think and its perfect....See MoreSusan Johnson
