Changing Pocket Rod Curtains into Grommets-HELP
Comments (6)You have a couple of choices. If you want to convert to grommets, you could look into the kit, though I have never done this, and suspect it might be a bit pricey. You CAN buy a header stiffener in the drapery section of Joann's or a similar store, and I would think you would definately want to use it. A couple of other options: You could buy clip on rings. There is a small clip on the bottom of the ring, which clips to the top of the panel. Then the ring goes over the rod. Probably want to clip a ring every 4 inches or so along the top of each panel. If you want to hang them on rings, but don't want the look of the clips, here is an easy solution. Go to Joann's or some place similar and buy rings which have little metal eyelet-screws at the bottom of them. Unscrew each little eyelet-screw from the ring, and you will stitch it onto the back of the drapery, by hand, probably every four inches or so. You will stitch around the eyelet part. The stem end will be sticking straight up. Where the stem meets the eyelet -that part should be right a the top border of the panel. When you have stitched them all on, simply screw the rings on to all the eyelets and then hang the rings from the rod....See MoreValance and shower curtain fabrics for bathroom
Comments (26)shee, it's difficult to say what color the fabric is looking at it from the monitor, but I would say more gold than yellow. For my shower curtain, since it is just one piece, I'm going to get the seamstress to put the holes so I can hang it from plain hooks and I'll have the liner on the same hooks and when the curtain is in use the decorative part will set outside the tub. The rod pocket is for just the valance which will be on a seperate poll. Also, my seamstreass was suppose to do this but she didn't. There is a waterproof fabric that you can use as the liner for your curtain which will offer it more protection from water and if I remember correctly it's also mildew proof. You asked about the height to hang. My curtain is a basic size so it will hang like your current one is now, just above the top of the tub surround....See MoreHow do you decorate your toilet tank top?
Comments (154)Okay, I was feeling a little bad, but now, after reading what she said about soonermagic's house, which we all know is decorated very well, I don't. I have to say that in the years I have spent on this forum, I have never said anything about anyone's decorating until now. This is the first "out there" kind of decorating I have ever seen on here, so I thought it was a joke. I hope, if I ever post pics, that she does say she doesn't like my style! I hope I haven't scared anyone of posting pics, because I really and truly enjoy them and see some wonderful things....See MoreChristmas Decorations
Comments (6)Tally, I wish I'd started two weeks ago too. Living room tree is done in tropical brights - lime, blue, yellow, pink, orange. The ornaments include cocktails - margaritas, martinis, etc. This is by far the biggest tree (10 ft) & takes me a while to do. I put some of the same ornaments into a big glass container on the coffee table. On the bar in the living room, I fill a pitcher with those ornaments. I put faux snow into cocktail glasses & add mini ornaments in the same colors, garnished with one of the little umbrellas. Porch tree is done in all white, silver & iridescent with icicles & snowflakes. Master bedroom tree (pencil tree) was done last year in bronze & green to match our bedroom but I wasn't really happy with the way it turned out. I'm thinking about adding blues & greens (can steal from living room tree) & making it peacock themed this year. Guest bedroom tree (pencil tree) was done in gold & burgundy last year, but I wasn't happy with it either. I have a bunch of Old World style ornaments that I haven't used in several years & I'm thinking I'll use those on it this year. I haven't put a tree in the dining room so far, but I'd like to. Dining room is done in a coastal theme. On the table, I put one large & two small glass containers filled with ornaments in blues, pale green, white, & pale gold. I hang beaded snowflakes from the chandelier. I'd love to do a pencil tree in there with those same colors plus sea shell ornaments. I put a tiny tree on the kitchen bar decorated with mini red ornaments. I add a sliver bar set & martini glasses filled with the faux snow & mini red ornaments. I have two lighted topiaries outside my front door decorated with mini red ornaments. The front door wreath is red poinsettias. I hang mini wreaths with red ribbon from the windows. I have a tree for the craft room but the room isn't finished so I won't put it up until next year. Yep, I should have started two weeks ago. Thankfully, the two pencil trees don't take long at all to decorate. I'm behind because some of the lights on the living room tree weren't working & DH & I spent quite a bit of time replacing burned out bulbs. Plus I had to go in to work for several hours Friday night as well as yesterday....See MoreHelen Martins
