Is there a Rose Midge Fly PROOF rose?

The answer is yes.

In my experience Hybrid Rugosas, almost all the 25+ varieties of hybrid rugosas I grew in my 'previous life,' as an easy peasy rose enthusiast, are bullet proof for midge fly. The explanation for this my 'bug doctor,' friend (yes, I had a friend who was a PhD in Entomology), was given that the chemical trail given off by a hybrid rugosa's growing tip does not register on the scent receptors of a female midge fly on the prowl for a place to lay her eggs.

What do you think about that?
