Rose Midge - Containers the solution?

I have been battling rose midge for years now and have given up growing roses last summer. It was actually a relieve to not see the dried up tips where rose buds and flowers should have been. Anyways, I was wondering, what if I grew a few roses in containers on my deck? They would be about 30ft from the nearest beds that had roses (and the rose midge) in them. Do you think this would make a difference? I wonder if the rose midge can fly/would drift that far to infect roses in the containers? And if they did, wouldn't it be easier to battle it in the containers? Please let me know if you think this will work... thanks in advance!
