Where are my posts going?

Twice in the last couple of weeks, I’ve posted and, while the post shows up in my “activity” feed, it never shows up in the forum where I’ve posted it. The first was a fluffy post in the Cooking forum with a link to an article from Sunset magazine about turkey gravy laced with a substance that might lead to a more chill Thanksgiving table (boy, did I struggle with that to keep out the name of the substance). I assumed my post may have gotten flagged as inappropriate because the substance was named in the link.

The second post is in the Home Decorating forum asking for help choosing a paint color. It has a photo of a kitchen. There is nothing in it that would offend anyone except haters of gray.

Any ideas where my posts are going?

I don't see either post. Houzz is being real glitchy. One of my posts disappeared, only to reappear a day later and not notify me of any comments. I had to bookmark it in order to keep up.

I don't see the post in cooking(probably removed), but I do see your post asking about colors in home decorating.

There are no replies yet. I am the last person to give advice on colors so I have nothing to add.

Thanks, Czarina. I guess my post is just boring (Heavens knows, it bores me!) I’ve deleted and re-posted across a variety of forums.

Thanks, @chispa. Here is the complete post:

DD is looking at buying a house. Currently, it is decorated in golds, greens, and reds which are not her favorites. She wants to have it painted before moving in.

I am a dunce about color and DD is not any better. She would prefer a light gray, but we worry about it fighting with the red-tone of the wood. So I imagine that it needs to be a warm gray. I have looked at charts with “warm grays” on Pinterest until my eyes are crossed. She will keep all of the woodwork some shade of white.

Please help us identify a new color for the kitchen, the lighter the better. Below is a photo of the cabinets, floors, perimeter countertops (light Corian) and the island countertop (mid-tone granite).

I have a post in Oakley’s pre-teen gifts post that disappeared, reappeared and then disappeared again. I was sharing a deal price on a guitar. Weird!

Possible to color match one of the tiles or countertop at the paint store? I've done that with tiles. I personally see more of a putty color matching, but of course "putty" would be another way perhaps of describing "warm grey." Frankly, I think that would wash out the kitchen. I might consider light bottom cabinets and dark tops (black) or perhaps the reverse.

Nacre...from SW. It is on the grey scale of the colors, but goes perfectly with my crema Marfil backsplash!

At some point, probably about 5 years down the road, DD is going to rip out the kitchen and start over. All she is looking to do now is get rid of the golds, greens, and reds. The kitchen, breakfast room, and hearth room will all need to be painted the same color.

Spring Ros, I’ll put Nacre on the list!

lpink, good idea about matching the backsplash.

Here is another question. For those of you with natural wood cabinets, how do you clean and cover scratches? I went to see the house this past weekend. It is very well-maintained. The couple who live there built it after their children were grown, so it doesn’t have any “kiddie wear and tear.” But still, sometimes rings bang into cabinets, fingernails graze them, etc. What is the best way to make the cabinets look their best?

I use "pens/markers" filled with stain, they are made to match different woods and cover scratches. I got mine at Home Dept.

I like Old English Scratch cover. It comes in different shades for different color wood.

I think this is the approach we’ll take (It may be DD & me, or it may be a cleaning service): Wash down the cabinets with Murphy’s Oil Soap (I’ve read it is good for washing down kitchen cabinets); touch up big/deep scratches with markers recommended by lpink; go over everything with Old English scratch cover; and buff.
