Best Coral Daylilies of 2019
Comments (29)Funny you should say that Karen. Speaking for myself, I am drawn to corals/peaches when viewing catalogues or online websites but then I really really like those colors. Mind you I haven't met a daylily I didn't like yet I don't think.. They all have their subtilties.....just some stand out more than others . Sometimes the color is hard to define ( for me as I said above) but I am drawn to them much more than other colors or combos. Celeste's picture of Forest Lake Raggamuffin really captures the essence and beauty of that plant and If I were to see that image in a catalogue I would pass up the latest and greatest to buy that one . I guess it all depends on what your preferences are. For Debra it seems to be pinks, Maryl says oranges are her fav's , for yourself I believe you said you love whites and for me it is this color . Just for the heck of it , here is an image I am squeaking in ( don't tell anyone LOL! ) This one glows across the garden ....See MoreFavorite Bicolor and Bitone Daylilies of 2019
Comments (39)Thanks, Nancy for posting a pic of your seedling. Not sure whether your seedling takes after RR or CHarmed Existence because the pollen parent is a bitone too. Nancy and Signet, you are very kind! Wolverine X Van Helsing has nice branching and maybe 20+ buds. The only problem is that it is a late bloomer and blooms a lot at once so its bloom season lasts about 2 weeks. I have yet to see rebloom on it but it is currently in the seedling bed which is not a good place for it being crowded and competed with weeds and tree roots. Next year when I move it out, I hope it will show some rebloom. I have found that drought definitely dampens the chance for rebloom. Thanks Sherry for posting Little Jetsetter's size. I am a bit confused. Is it 15" or 3 1/4" ? Anyway, I love your pic of it and I really like to add it to my garden. Celeste, I somehow miss Lotus Position. That's a beautiful one too! Love its name!...See MoreFavorite Applique Daylilies of 2019
Comments (29)I love the Westbourne, I was gifted that this summer and can't wait to see it bloom. Most Westbournes do really well for me and it is looking good so far. Mexican Magic that you sent me bloomed this year but either I did not take a pic, or it got lost. I did not take as many pictures this year but did try to get my new ones. Thank you for the info on Green Derby, Signet. I love my daylilies, but don't really keep up with lineage or hybridizer. Trying to do a little better, if only to keep track of which daylilies would do better for me. When I looked them up I realized if i paid better attention to lineage, i might avoid some losses. Comments (35)Wow there really are some beauties here . My eye is drawn to Sam Abell, Wickedly Wild and Wonderful , Snidely Whiplash , Red Eyed Fantasy , Soft Hearted Mother , Storm Shelter, Easter Egg Hunt , Incendiary , OMG Celebrate the Day (to die for) , Frank's Star of Bethlehem , and Brad's seedling , Thomas Tew , Purple Sombrero , Sunday Fever and Blue Jay Tapestry , Precious Candy, Moutain Wildflower and True Calling and Karen's seedling Boomerang Effect x Petes Electric Blue Beauty . That's quite the list and all have gone on my want list except for Brad and Karen's seedlings which is only because they aren't commercially available . I am gonna have to buy more land !...See Morelilykate7a
