Best Coral Daylilies of the 2018 Season
Comments (17)I don't seem to have many in this color range. The first two below are some of my very best daylilies..... TREASURE OF THE SOUTHWEST This one is one of my absolute favorites of my daylilies and I seem to take it's photo the most....it and Jerry Hyatt. (I found at least a dozen shots I took this summer). There are all the colors of a sunset in this one. It makes a tremendous clump that blooms endlessly with multiple scapes and buds, is super-robust and healthy and the substance holds up in the heat and the cold. In the heat it has more coral tones..... in cool weather it takes on more pink tones..... either way, it's gorgeous! SOUTH SEAS This golden oldie can not be beat for both brilliant color, reliable performance, hardiness and vigor. I will never be without this one. VT BETSY Not well known or widely grown, this Olallie late-bloomer will keep pumping out blooms dozens at a time well into September. Narrow grass-like foliage and dainty stems with fluttering blooms that remind me of butterflies in the breeze. RUNNER UPS..... This one could potentially be a favorite in future years. It's relatively new so it hasn't proven itself but the color has the 'wow factor'..... SMOKY MOUNTAIN AUTUMN BITTERSWEET DESTINY This is a daylily I tucked away in an obscure part of the garden and I always mean to move it where it can shine because the color is wonderful....See MoreI daylilies 2019
Comments (27)Who would have thought there were so many wonderful 'I's" out there. Indian Giver looks so good for some people. It was one of my first daylilies and the color didn't hold up well in our sun. Sherry, that's an especially nice picture of it.............Celeste: I like the new daylily that Harmon's has, but is that really someone's name - Igor?...............Nancy: My wish list includes a daylily with the colors of I Don't Kid or Purple Maze that is colorfast in my heat. There aren't too many with that color combination to begin with and most of them I've heard about or seen fade too badly here. Lucky You with your cooler summers because both of yours are gorgeous...................Maryl...See MoreSiloam daylilies 2019
Comments (15)Here are the Siloams that I grow: SILOAM APPLE BLOSSOM: A very nice little one. Front of the border plant. SILOAM MELVIN'S YELLOW: An outstanding Siloam. One of the first to bloom and it is larger than most of Pauline's intros. SILOAM PAUL WATTS: This is a very nice red for the mid to late season. It tends to bloom just above the foliage. I wish it was a little taller. SILOAM RALPH HENRY: This is a tempermental plant. It does not like to be disturbed. I have it planted near the vegetable garden and it really stands out because of the extra water it receives. Substance is thick. That is all for me. David Zone 5...See MoreSa-Si daylilies 2019
Comments (28)So many beautiful ones, my wish list gets longer with every post. This time of the year I tend to want every one I see. By September I start to get a grip, but by then I have already added more than I should! Sherry, I really like Sea Dragon. Brad, Sears Tower is so tall! I bet it really gets noticed Debra, Shelby is one I admire every time I see it. Love Shadow Walker too Nancy Sea of Cinders looks like a standout Signet, Self Determination is so pretty, I almost bought it last year but talked myself out of it. I like Seven Locks too. David, I have Sherry Lane Carr too, could not find a photo of it, but it is such a great daylily. I like Saucy Vixon too Celeste, your Screen Pattern looks so good. I love that Screen Pattern has a different look on different days, probably because of temps. I like Shuffle the Deck too Sabine Baer, I love this one, a really good daylily that almost always reblooms Sailing at Dawn, does really well for me too Sailor Sky had its first bloom last year, and did so well, I think this one is going to be a realy good one. I have been rather surprised at how well Laura's plants do here, and thinking I should be buying from northern climates. San Ignatio is such a pretty pink and just blooms its heart out. I like the look of Santa's Pants, but wish it had more blooms Savannah Debutante, I don't have too many doubles, but this one does so well, more coral pink than these images appear for some reason Screen Pattern is a great daylily Selma Rose is one of my earliest bloomers, nice big flowers on rather short scapes. It has never had many buds, but did really well this year. I don't know if it heard me say it was on its way out, or maybe it enjoyed the up and down spring weather last year.
