I took some more pictures. I am NOT married to the rug. But have no idea when I will be able to spend $800 or so on a new rug. The one we have is in decent condition. The current couch is an army green color. I HATE it. I wanted something more neutral, and the new grey is really not that light. It just shows up very light in the pictures. The guy at the furniture store said that the grey microsuede is a fabric that is easy to clean. Its rated for both Water-soluble cleansers and also dry-clean solutions. I am now leaning toward the sample that I marked "brownish-purple". I think I better go with a solid and update to a pattern later when i know where I am at with the rug. @nosoccermom – I love the floor seating idea in the first picture you posted. Where is that from? I am looking to do something in my kids playroom area and that looks really nice. @missymoo12…yes the pillows I was thinking were small lumbar pillows (round). I was thinking of just one on each sofa. But after seeing some of the pictures here, may add some additional ones. The fabric I saw on fabric.com and also on amazon. I found a natural sisal rug (12x15) with a grey border for the bottom layer rug, now I am looking for a 7x9 rug to go on top. Spray paint. I'm not sure I would have the courage for that Doesn't it crack? Interesting. The seat cushions are in good shape but the backs are not. I agree that the bargain stores may be the best choice for a temp fix. Darn, I drove right by Pier 1 and Marshall's today and never thought of checking there. I was at the mall and walked by Ballard's and saw some that could work but at $60 each, I skipped them. Of course, I'd just dropped $500 on Memorial Day sales (clothes), so I was feeling tapped out.

I prefer to mix prints, but with some symmetry. If I had a loveseat, I'd do a similar arrangement of two pairs of matching pillows and a fifth pillow that's different. I wouldn't necessarily choose the same pillows as those on the sofa for the loveseat, but would look for similar/complementary colors and patterns. I probably have more pillows on my sofa than many people would want; however, it speaks comfort to me. (Also, I think a cat must've smooshed them some before I took the photo above. They usually sit up a little taller than this. ;-))
