OMG I LOVE the first fabric sample.. but I am really sorry to say that I don't think it will work so nicely with the red rug. The second version in different oolors would probably work better for you.

While I like some of the others, I think the 4rth option will look best with your sofa and the future hardwood floors. I hesitate though because it seems to be more orange than the deep red of your rug. Are you married to the rug? How do the two look next to each other?

Back to that first fabric sample-- do you know who makes it? I would love love love having that fabric and I use those two colors throughout my home.

funkyart - no idea who makes the fabric, but its a Flexsteel fabric sample. and the sku on it is 787-50

Just to clarify - you are not trying to match the pillows to the sofa and loveseat pitured above, but to a new gray-ish microsuded sectional, right? Do you have a sample of that fabric for us to see?

I don't see how most of the pillow choices would go well with gray, except the solid red and brownish purple.

terriks - the grey is the piece of fabric underneath the pillow fabrics I am showing. Its not that grey, although it was in the grey section at the store. It looks beige almost.

You can see the fabric here(and in every other shot). its pretty light.

And yeah, i know that most of the fabrics probably wont work. But I just grabbed all of the ones I liked from the store today to think about them. I am AWFUL at picking out fabric choices.

If you do keep the reddish rug, I don't think any of them will work, but I can't be sure without a closer look at the rug. I think you would need to match a color in the rug and a solid color, because of the pattern in the rug.

I am surprised you picked such a light fabric for the couch with the animals and children, as you pointed out.

I think your current couch color is more soil friendly.

Can you show that last sample with the rug please?

Maybe you could so a green pillow to match your curtains?

With a solid sofa and WTs, you can certainly get away with another print in the room.

Could you take a close up photo of the rug? If you have the pillow and upholstery samples at home it would be helpful to put them on the rug and take a picture of that too.

I would match the pillows to what I have now and not worry about how the pillows will match once you've made the other changes. That could be several years from now and throw pillow are easy and cheap to replace.

Sorry, I missed that fabric sample in your pics. I was looking for gray.

I took some more pictures. I am NOT married to the rug. But have no idea when I will be able to spend $800 or so on a new rug. The one we have is in decent condition.

The current couch is an army green color. I HATE it. I wanted something more neutral, and the new grey is really not that light. It just shows up very light in the pictures. The guy at the furniture store said that the grey microsuede is a fabric that is easy to clean. Its rated for both Water-soluble cleansers and also dry-clean solutions.

I am now leaning toward the sample that I marked "brownish-purple". I think I better go with a solid and update to a pattern later when i know where I am at with the rug.

Just wanted to add that the fabric color for the couch is actually called STONE, its gray looking i think, and it was in the section with the grays.

How about the red chenille? I think it would go best with the rug and chenille is a nice soft pillow to lay your head on!!

How about picking up the navy or medium blue from the rug?

I love the rug. Try the red chenille or as andee said try some of the blues. However, don't torture it either, I think you don't have to match the rug dead on. I read it as warmish reds and some blues without getting into the golds and oranges. I also read something olive-y in there. Look at what goes with it from standing up and away from it, not held right against the color in the rug. A pattern like that seems to "make" its own colors that arent physically there but are a blending of adjacent bits of pattern.

The one you labeled "pillow probably doesn't go with rug" looks to me as if the colors are the best match; the pattern probably not.

Your rug matches with the red color pillow (the one that you marked as "too much red?"). But the pillow you marked as "same pattern as #1, but different colors - may match better?" is also match with mostly any color.

Okay, I would maybe call that color taupe, but not gray. In fact your "army green" couch looks gray next to it.

The rug is very nice, It adds alot of great color to the room.

I have to ask you, WHAT COLOR DO YOU LIKE ?

You have alot of color options with that rug. And as Palimpsest says they don't have to match perfectly just in the same color family.
